With the sales of pot being accepted in states across the union, I wondered what y'all thought about the use of pot, and have you ever tried it, or still use it, "Recreationally, of course?"

And if anyone has scripture to add some light to why this should not be broached by believers, I'd appreciate it! I have had several believers argue with me about this, and they see no sin in it if the government approves it!

I smoked it when in my youth. Now that I'm a Christian would I ever smoke it again. I wouldn't want that feeling again in my old age. I do believe our government will eventually make a lot of money taxing pot. We will see politicians promoting pot to fund all sorts of social programs like education and infrastructure.

NOT CHRIS CHRISTY! He told my whole town at a town meeting that he is dead set against it. He also told us that his only ambition is to be the best governor New Jersey ever had....:laugh::laugh:

    Brother....

....you seem quite uptight, putout and defensive with my posts on drinking and pot! I do not wish to cast judgement in anyones direction, I am just seeking input as to what others feel about these topics, as we use the polls to be honest and not have to disclose our names for our answers!

The church needs to have a view on drinking and drugs, and pot is the least of the drugs we can talk about! Again, I appreciate your opinion/views, and like me, you have every right to state your view, just as I have to ask! That, after all, is what makes this board such a fascinating place to fellowship with!

Just a side note....there are certain people and subjects that I don't care to get my mind into, so I just don't open the OP. Maybe you should do that when you see my name attached to the topic as its author! I certainly don't mean to offend you or make you stumble.

With that said, you know what I am all about, so next time be forewarned that RD2 is not you the most favorite person, and you will avoid falling into the sin of anger and sarcasm. It's okay to be tempted, just don't fall into responding.

I have a few folks on this board that rile me up, and I stay away from them to avoid losing my cool and saying things that are not Christ like. Now there I go again, being Hyper-critical, but I needed to point out to you that you have the choice not to look at what may cause you a GERD attack!

GERD - stands for an acid reflux problem brought on by stress. Just thought I'd share that so no one thought I was cussing or something!

I was involved with it. More so with that lifestyle. The culture that surrounds it is more dangerous than the pot itself.

When your smoking a joint your not doing that for the taste. Your doing that specifically to get high. These are two very different things. I'm not sure that there is an addiction point like there is with alcohol but its fairly easy to obtain and injest. Given that, I would be conserned.

I used to smoke pot. Mostly, it just made me giggle like an idiot for five or ten minutes and then fall asleep.

I got high one night before going on stage and it messed with my perception of volume so bad that I never did that again. Honestly, I can't see how guys like Buffett and Willie Nelson do it.

But I still continued to smoke it at home, even after I was saved, unfortunately. It took a while for it to sink in that it was a sin.

As I explained in the other thread, I don't drink. But, at least with alcohol, I could enjoy a beer or possibly two, if it was a long afternoon, without sinning.

But with pot, even the smallest amount is intoxicating, for me, anyway, so I should abstain altogether.

I don't know...I don't see it as harmless. That is the major arguement. But the price point for obtaining it is a curious thing to me. People are so used to getting it illegally, how is Washington and Colorado handeling that. Guess it all comes down to logistics.

OH I agree, but what is worse than that is the culture that always accompanies the habitual use of it.

I doubt there's anyone on this board that doesn't know where I stand on marijuana, it's use and the case for legality. I took one hit in Vietnam. I also took one hit off a regular cigarette when I was in high school. I hated both of them. I hate the feeling of drawing that gunk down into my lungs. Yeah, I smoked a "victory cigar" in Vietnam after each victory -- a victory being survival. I'll invoke the famous line here, " ... but I didn't inhale." I don't know very many people who do inhale cigar smoke. Still, given the now-proven potential for throat and mouth cancer from cigars and snuff, either one is an equally stupid choice.

I won't rehash the facts of addiction and health risk with pot. You've all read them, and frankly I don't care whether you agree with them or not. They're facts, and the denials make them no less so. The arguments I've seen on here regarding "personal liberty" and the ridiculous claim that the Constitution is violated by anti-drug laws is just so much nonsense, nothing more than an excuse to smoke pot and make claims that you have the right to do so. I can't imagine how anyone who claims to be a Christian can engage in pot smoking. It's anathema to our faith.

As for the "culture" the Rev was talking about, I'm pretty sure he's talking about the exact same attitudes we've seen displayed on here every time a marijuana discussion starts. Pot smokers claim to be extremely patriotic to the point of smoking their poison to defy "unconstitutional laws," and they are extremely defensive of smoking pot, to the point of irrationality and paranoia. It is a proven gateway drug as well, from the aspect that those who sell it or "give it away" have other, harder drugs available for the express purpose of selling them on the basis of "If you like that high, you've got to try this!"

Marijuana is a dangerous drug, it's addictive, it is not "harmless" and it needs to remain illegal. Christians are lying to themselves, others and God when they claim they are "doing no harm" to themselves or others, whether physically, emotionally or spiritually.

I'm against pot and alcohol or anything that will alter your judgment and change your personality. All of this drinking and smoking pot is fleshly desires and fleshly gratifications that should be avoided at all cost.

People who smoke habitually hang out in groups. It is an actual sub culture which involves paranoia, distrust of anyone who does not do it. Those factors lead to all kinds of compromises of ethics. You would have to experience it to understand.

Brother:laugh: trust me, I know what your saying. But most of these guys are more dangerous to themselves than anyone else. The drugs make them stupid and reckless, so cops generally have a field day with them.

I know a guy in distribution who makes some serious money selling it through mules on the street. I'm not sure he even seriously distributes pot....but pills are big and he gets thoses from local MD 's writing scripts. Now he is parinoid cause there is big money in it and he will do some serious prison time if caught. Or if he steps on the right guys toes then he may not get that far....he will just disappear one day. Funny but he claims to be a CHRISTIAN.....but the money is too good.
