A charismatic church has invited me to help do some work in DT Denver. They are big on Way of the Master which is good, however they have other problems. I wonder if I should reject to work with them. But then again regardless of their views of music ( Rock N Roll concert), their seeker friendly nonsense, and their views on the gifts) the people love the lord and seek to serve him in all that they do. Maybe I should join them but don't tell the leadership at the baptist church.

You are saying that the Way of the Master trumps all other considerations. If there is a checkmark next to WotM then anything else can be overlooked.

    Contemporary Christian Music? Don't care.
    Speaking in tongues? Don't care.
    Healing services? Don't care.
    Seeker friendly? Don't care.
Evangelize with another church behind the backs of the people at the church I have membership? Don't care.

Is Way of the Master a cult for you?

I'm not going to answer the question in the thread title because everyone on this board knows you will be witnessing with this charismatic church no matter what we say.

So you come on here to look for someone to give you a reason to not do something you view as Biblical per you title. You asked if you should practice Biblical Separation. I think you answer your own question in your title. But we all know that you are going to do what you want regardless of what anyone says here. I do wonder how this will affect your relationship with your wife since she goes to an Independent Fundamentalist Church that does practice Separation.

I have not decided and will speak with my wife. I am not sure. I visited the church once and did not like them and their shallow approach to doctrine.

I came for advice. I will speak with her but she may be against it and in that event I will not go. Appreciate their WOTM evangelism but they have other issues that trumps evangelism.

Since I will be with a questionable church I would be endorsing them so this is a bad idea. No they are not WOF or heretical but they are very contemporary. Don't make assumptions people on what I will or will not do. You acted with your emotions in the light and not like Spock.

People, people, people. We were doing such a good job of not responding. It was actually quiet. Then y'all had to go and let a farcical opening post draw you in.

I mean, seriously: his final statement was "maybe I should join them but don't tell the leadership at the baptist church" -- meaning, don't tell the leadership at the church I'm a member of, whose authority I've agreed to submit myself to by becoming a member; and ignoring that he represents that group of believers--including his wife--with whatever he does.

And we deemed this worthy of a response?

I don't believe he's a troll, although I'm not 100% positive and posts like this make me really, really wonder; so I'll paraphrase the typical saying: Don't feed the Evangelist.

Thanks Don, you certainly notice, as do many I suspect, that the maturity level is exceptionally low.

In what capacity have they asked you to work with them?

Maybe if, as you say, they are shallow in their doctrine, you can be one that guides them to, shall we say, deeper waters (understanding).

What does the Holy Spirit tell you? Have you taken this to God in prayer?
I think you know, with as many posts as you have to your credit here, that a message board isn't always a place for sage advice.

What does the spirit tell you? Read your Bible. I think God will guide you to the answer.

God light your journey with his blessings and guidance. :praying:

Is "Way of the Master" John MacArthur?
And you say they are Charismatic?
Did you give them John MacArthur's "Charismatic Chaos," and the other books that he has written on the Charismatic movement, particularly the last one?

Perhaps you're right: rabbits growl, they scratch, they lunge, and sometimes they even bite.

Have you ever listened to sermons from a Calvary Chapel?

Here in Kansas City, there's a radio station that has preaching programs, and at least most, if not all, are from various Calvary Chapels.

    FountainRadio.com

You can listen online. Except for their "pray this prayer" invitations, they've got some pretty good stuff.

It is not what I thought. The Way of the Master is sponsored or run by Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron, neither of whom have formal training. And yet they run a Bible College.
Two of the strangest beliefs of Comfort are:

However, when I first saw the name, I was reminded of the association with Lordship Salvation. And he is one of the greatest proponents of it. Doing a search on him and his teaching would lead me away from it, not toward it.

      But to each his own.

I would want to know if he has changed his stance on this. Being 35 years ago, it might not reflect his current thinking. Heaven knows, I've changed my thinking since back then!

If he has not, I'd walk away from him. That's just absolutely ridiculous. If God is chastening His child, no amount of anything from the doctors could heal. But there are times that, because of our sinful and fallen world, things break down and don't work as they should and we need help. My 24 year old daughter would be dead right now had we not sought treatment for her pancreatic tumor. Was that God's desire? If it was, she'd be dead despite the doctors.

I admit he does have some poorly written books one of which is how to overcome insomnia. I bought it and tried it and it did not work. However that may have been more due to the fact that I have a problem requiring medications and Comfort is no doctor regardless of what he thinks.

But besides this his task is evangelism. Yes I admit at times he steps over his skills and abilities when he writes apologetics books, but regardless I love his passion for evangelism and find his teachings in this area to be very helpful.

Yes I have but the one I visited I did not like as they looked too contemporary.
