 Quote from Phillip:Oh, about prayer before posting. Probably a GREAT idea, but we'll probably miss about 80% of the best posts.

True brother....so true....but now we must define "best".

My first computer was a TRS-80 Model 1 Level II.

Many, it was FAST with that 16k ram, no hard drive, black and white screen... had to code it by hand to get it to do anything until we finally bought (drum roll...) a CASETTE TAPE DRIVE !!! WoW the wonderful world of PRE-PROGRAMMED SOFTWARE !!!

I didn't go 'internet' (wasn't really that either) until I had a 286 with a 1200 baud modem (SUPER-FAST) that came with 6 months of free Prodigy access (when Prodigy and Compu-serve were seperate computers, and you needed seperate accounts to get into both of them, and then were charged by the hour. I think I had like a 4 hours a month to start? - lol).

    ah, the good ole days.

Anyway, from my 20½-year posting on bulletin boards
i found several things are true:

    1. What Brother Gregory Perry Sr. said in his
    FP = first post.

    2. The usually unwritten First Directive of posting:

    read before posting

    3. posting on a bb (bulletin board) is a lousy way
to win anybody to any position
(though it might attract some to PM = private mail
    or e-mail conversations

    4. Computers are different now than 20½-years ago,
but people (in general) are the same.
I started with a Commodore 64. Remember the "64" mean
64 "k"-bytes that is 64 time 1024 bytes (and those
were only 4-bit bytes back then.

    Computing then and now:

    1. central memory 64,000 v. 264 M=million
    2. connection speed 300-baud v. 100,000-baud (cable, you know)
    3. internal memory storage: none v. 9-Gig
    4. clock speed: 330-baud v. 3.29 Ghz
    5. other memory storage: floopy 70K disk, 70M compact disk

    Improvement:
    1. central memory - times 3,800
    2. connection speed: times 333
    3. internal memory storage: (can't divide by zero)
    4. clock speed: time 10 million
    5. other memory storage: times 1,000

a strech than to think i'm "30" [IMG]

Phillip: say you are one smart Ozarkian,
maybe you can answer me. It sure is cold
(under 20-degrees) to go out in the morning
to the well to pump a bucket of water to
flush the comode with -- ah, er in
    city talk "with
which to flush the comode". You got any quick
answers (buying extra buckets is out of
    the questions)?

    Ugh is right.
I've been buying 40" pants but humoring
myself by wearing suspenders to hold them
    up.

Amen Brother! We need to realize we are all the family of God. Sometimes the discussions get to hurling insults, but that happens at places other than online. However, sometimes its easy to let it all go when you're typing and the person isn't next to you. I agree with what you say. May God bless you.

    In Christ,

    Brooks

If I may share my thoughts.
I do believe that prayer needs to be in action when posting a message.
I do believe that a harsh word does more damage than one that encourages or directs.
I try to remember these simple rules when posting:

1.When someone says something harsh to you, how does it make you feel? Is it helpful to you and encourage you to share? Keep you words gentle and few.

2.When you are wrong how would you want to be re-directed? Direct with gentleness and honesty. Seasoning it with a lot of patience.

3.When you are right does it warrant rubbing someone's nose in it? Remember the ONLY right and perfect person is the Lord.

4.If you can't say something positive, silence is golden.

I totally agree with the FP..first post.

    God bless,
    Mommyperson
