The recent article in the Baptist Press quoted below tells us that at the “annual meeting” of the Southern Baptist Convention in Indianapolis this coming year prayer “is news”:

This year's prayer emphasis at the Southern Baptist Convention has been boosted by the efforts of Indianapolis-area pastors who have caught a vision of what can happen when people spend more time praying.
At last year's meeting of the State Convention of Baptists in Indiana, a first-of-its-kind prayer room featured videos, maps and other visual aids along with Bible verses, specific requests and journals to facilitate prayer. The room was filled throughout the annual meeting, and the results were overwhelming, Dale Eakes, this year's SBC prayer team coordinator, told Baptist Press. (Online source)

Based on this ministry's inability to accurately and honestly read, comprehend and report Dallas Willard's views on spiritual formation in other articles, I'm highly skeptical regarding their analysis of anyone else's ministry, teaching, or emphasis.

Considering the source....I'd rather not read it.

Silva is really good at letting out hot air. Really bad at anything else.

I looked around the site and found that I didn't want to have to
    read anything there.

Well Mr. Mitchell claims he's SBC, so I don't know about that.

I do have to wonder if he is being deceived by the Web sites he's been citing lately.

So what's wrong with having a space that will be quiet for prayer at a busy convention - and some things to help you pray for needs that you either may not think about or know about? In our church, we have a prayer sheet with prayer needs of those who request to be put on the list.

I see no indication that they're doing "contemplative" prayer or anything of the like. I think what they did was a great idea (from what I read).

The website he posted seems to be anti sbc bashing, and not much else.

My recommendation is to never go back to that website.

It represents Jesus about as much as SFIC drinks.
