Here we go again! College football right around the corner!

Blackbird has heard the rumor(much to the dislike of the USC "cry-babies") that:

LSU will be ranked #1 in both polls

Who would you like to see #1

    LSU or USC?

I look for a tough SEC schedule for all teams---Vanderbelt included!!

Don't expect an LSU repeat. FSU looks tough again this year.

My pick for this season's mythical national champion is Georgia.

Nobody picked Greece over in the European fotball tourney, right? And look at them!

So why not pick WYOMING for the NCAA champs?

(Probably because Greece would have a better chance .. the Greek SOCCER team!)

There is no legitimate #1 because there was no legitimate Championship game. Who cares about the illegitmate polls anyway. The whole thing is a big old liberal farce anyway. It is almost enough to make me not even want to watch. Who cares anymore? The whole NCAA is an illegitmate farce until they get rid of the BCS and go to a playoff system of some sort. You know, you win a game, you stay in, if you lose a game, you go home and cry to momma. You get to the final two standing. One of them wins and is, at least that year, the legitimate national champs. They might not have won some games that year. But they won the games that mattered. The one who loses is not the national champ. They may have gone undefeated in the regular season and get beat by an underdog, but hey, if they can't endure and win the games that matter, they have no legitimate right to claim to be the best college team in the nation.

    How does that song go:

    Roll Tide, Roll Tide,

    Straight down the toilet bowl.

Actually that seditious song goes -

    "Roll tide roll
Round the bowl and down the hole
    Roll Tide roll"

This year it is all of Alabama's opponents who will be making that trip though!

As the biggest Husker fan on BB, I'm wondering how Bill Callahan will do this year. And since there are plenty of Okies around here, for MY sake, I hope he does well! [IMG]

Well concerning the SEC, you can bet that a coach will be fired (see Auburn or Florida) and that at least one of the schools will be investigated for some NCAA violation. The SEC where the theme is "It ain't cheating if you don't get caught!"

The Razorbacks get to host the texas game in Fayetteville this year so it should be pretty interesting. Mack Brown's job probably depends on texas getting to a good BCS bowl game (and beating the Sooners). An early loss to the Hogs again would really hurt his chances. Go Hogs!!

As for the BCS, I can't believe they didn't dump it for a playoff format after last season. It sounds like they are basically just tweaking it to give the human polls more weight and adding another big money bowl to help smaller conference schools (beginning 2005 season?). If they wanted to add another bowl, why not let the winners of the top 2 BCS games play each other. I guess they like making the fans angry.

With only one starter back on offense and just a few back on defense, it will be very, very difficult for the Razorbacks to have a winning record this season unless the incoming freshmen grow up in their positions in a hurry.

I will be surprised if Texas doesn't win easily in Fayetteville this season.

You are right, Ken. With a few player deciding to leave early in addition to the graduating seniors, there will be a lot of hole to fill. The texas game being so early in the season won't help either. Houston Nutt will have a lot of work ahead of him to try to pull out another winning season. Hopefully Matt Jones will have a great year and some young players will step up to help him.

I don't know about anymore schools getting investigated this year since Bama committed enough infractions to last a decade.

    GO VOLS!!!!!!

    RodH,
As a Texas grad, I'm sure the Longhorns will find some unique way of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!
    WallyGator

P.S. As long as Darrell Royal and Willie Nelson are satisfied with Mack, he has no worries! ;)

No, as a matter of fact it is worse then that...I follow the UTEP Miners! They haven't had a winning season since forever and have hired a coach with a bit of an interesting history to say the least. When I want to follow a team that wins I usually follow A&M...oh never mind

Not anything against the SEC schools, they just all cheat...eventually!

LSU has as much talent as anyone, and a superior coaching staff, but the schedule is a killer (Auburn, Georgia, Florida and Arkansas all on the road). They're also breaking in a new QB. 9-2 seems reasonable for them, and another SEC title is not improbable. USC, with their soft schedule, looks like the team to beat nationally.
