First of all when I come on the board there is always something here about HOMOSEXUALITY!... WHY?... Where is Jesus Christ and him crucified?... That to me would be a better topic to talk about the Jesus Christ that saved me from hell and eternal torment.

I don't hear about anything HOMOSEXUAL in my church... Is that the sermons you preach in your churches?... We are ALL SINNERS in the sight of GOD that is all I know... We are all now or in times past obedient and disobedient children and none of us are above the other... If you think so you are not reading the same Bible I am... We sin daily by omission or comission and none here are guiltless... That is what my church preaches and teaches... That is my Jesus Christ the Saviour of Sinners... That Apostle Paul claimed he was and I claim it too!... So let's bury this HOMOSEXUAL business in the dark... It is of the world and we are supposed to be separate from the world... Lets look in depth to the TRUE LIGHT OF THE WORLD... JESUS THE CHRIST THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD... Preach and Teach... JESUS CHRIST AND HIM CRUCIFIED!... Brother Glen [IMG]

No, it normally isn't talked about in church. Someone might get offended you know!
It is being accepted as normal in our society. It needs to be talked about and fought against. It's destroying America and stealing our kids.

our pastor does not dwell on topics so much as when he comes to it as he preaches through a book. He will not skirt an issue, or give it more attention than the particular scripture gives it.

The reason it is being brought up a lot is I dont know how much you read the paper or watch the news, but you cant even seem to turn the page or turn the channel and this is front page or headlin news.

Could it be, because the Church isn't talking about it? This isn't one of my favorite subjects either, but it is a reality of what is happening all around us.

God forbid this great nation becomes like Canada where speaking out against it becomes a hate crime which is punishable by imprisonment or a fine or both. who knows the way things are going maybe even death in the future!

In canada you can't even teach your children that God does not approve of it or you can loose your children, go to prison or get a fine or all of the above.

I live near Chicago and there is a big headline that reads " Cook County Certifies gay couples 13-3 vote falls short of granting marriage"

This is a major city in the U.S.A. how long do you think it will be before they approve marriage?
    Do you think God approves?
Do you think Jesus will forgive if they don't repent?

We are the light of Jesus to the world, and this exposes sin. If you look at some the replys on the discussions on homosexuality there are so called brothers who actually approve of it. is this your stance to? these are people who claim they believe in Jesus, some even claim to be Pastors and reverends or teachers of the faith.

I dont know about you but I feel this sin needs to be exposed for what it is and that is sin for which Christ was crusified

    God bless you brother

Only 2-3% of the population is homosexual. I do not know for absolutely certain I have ever even met a homosexual, although other people have told me that about three people I know are homosexuals. But the largest town I have ever lived in only has about 23,000 people in it. Other than the major cities, it appears to me that homosexuality is pretty much a hush-hush subject with homosexuals keeping quiet about their activities.

So maybe in places like San Francisco and Houston the churches need to address the subject quite often, but in small town America probably much less often.

I seriously doubt the statistics are truly 2-3%. It is not a hush-hush subject where I live, and I do not live in a small town. I moved here from Oberlin, which is KNOWN for homosexuality among the college students.
While my children were in school homosexuality talk happened, and my children were only in K-2. My daughter got french kissed on the bus by another girl who wanted to be her girlfriend. The kids constantly joke around about being gay. These are CHILDREN!
The adults aren't faring much better. People don't wear signs announcing their homosexuality, but the percentage here seems quite high. I've been shocked by the number of marrieds or women with boyfriends who have had affairs with other women, or who have a rough situation with a guy and decide that since they're not interested in someone else at the moment they must be a lesbian.
Small towns are usually hit harder in any sin situation that becomes popular because it's new and exciting to them and they enjoy the status of being "modern".

Ken, you and I obviously live in very different worlds. [IMG]

Glen - the reason we spend more time talking about homosexuality than Christ crucified is that even reprobate liberals like myself believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus. There's no need to debate what we agree on.

Oh Good grief! What utter nonsense. I have absolute freedom of speech. The only thing we protect against is discrimination against any group.

If I want to preach that homosexuality is wrong according to scripture there is nothing to prevent me. If I want to discriminate against those homosexuals, or Blacks, or Jews, or whomever, the law might have something to say about it.

    Cheers,

Jim, A FREE Canadian and living happily in Canada.

Maybe we conservative Baptists get suckered into talking about homosexuality too much. The real issue is sin (in all it's forms) and repentance. Why single out the squeaky wheels so they can cry "homophobe!"? It gives them an excuse (albeit a poor one) to avoid the claim of Christ upon their life.

And I seriously doubt they are any higher. I think some Christian ministries inflate the numbers to help in their fundraising to stop the "homosexual menace". I may have heard more talk about homosexuality in the past few days on this board than I have in my almost 48 years on God's earth.

Frankly, I think there are some conservative Christians that have a fetish about talking about and concentrating on this one sin. It is a bugbear to them.

How would like it, Gina, if thousands, yea millions, of people talked about a major sin problem area in your life(and I think we all have at least one) and made it into THE sin that needed to be stamped out?

I think I can confirm that Bro. Glen is definitely NOT in favor of it. Otherwise, he wouldn't be a Primitive Baptist.

I think the reason the issue is raised on here is because of the different discussion groups. This issue seems to keep to the debate groups, such as politics, current events, etc. Since the homosexual thing has been rampant in the news as of late, it seems only natural that it spills over into a debate forum. I don't think it's talked about anymore than the Palestinian/Israeli conflict, or the war in Iraq. It just happens that it's a hot topic right now.

As far as it being preached in the churches, I have only heard it in our church a few times, that I can remember. Of course, we also hear about the evils of everything else too. I don't think it has gotten anymore attention than any other sin has. I just think it's because it has become such a hot topic in the last few years...mostly, because the U.S.A. has come out, pardon the pun, condoning it. It probably would be the same reaction if the U.S. decided to legalize prostitution. I can see why a preacher would want to preach on it. If he doesn't someone might fall into the trap of accepting it as normal. After all, if our own government is in favor of it, it can't be that bad, right?

I do see what you're saying though, Bro. Glen. We do get caught up in these debates very often. Not just about homosexuality, but all of the other favorite debates that we have on this board.

I think we should all look at it this way...we all know that Joshua is not against homosexuality...we all know that KenH is, for the most part, completely against the way our government is run...we all know that stubbornkelly is Libertarian feminist...we all know that Carson Webber is a Catholic and will not be converted...here's my question, why do we argue with them?

It's one thing to state your case about something, but it's another to just keep on and on and on and on about it. We are all quite aware that nothing short of God's grace is going to change anyone's mind about something, so why don't we let God handle it?(That's a rhetorical question) [IMG]

Like we are very fond of hearing around here, let's stop beating up on these dead horses. They're not going to get any deader.(I just made a new word) :D

    God Bless. Bro. James

I knew you'd like that Ken [IMG] ...I just had to mention you in there(since we've had some rather heated debates as of late). I'm sure that I could be summed up by someone in some fashion or another like this.

Oh well, at least we can disagree in civility.

It would definitely be a good incentive to quit!
However, you don't seem to be getting this. People aren't concerned with being told their sinning. They don't want people to simply stop reminding them they're sinning. They want people to sin right along with them or at the least condone their behavior and quit calling it sin at all.

I know that is what they want. But they won't be getting what they want from me. ;) I have my own sin problems and I don't need to add another kind of sin to them.

And I seriously doubt they are any higher.</font>[/QUOTE]It is not clear to me whether the incidence of homosexuality is constant across the whole United States or whether it changes over time, but I can state with some basis for the assertion (albeit one that I cannot divulge) that the percentage of adults who identify themselves as gay, homosexual, lesbian or bisexual, transsexual or transgendered in Washington State this year is greater than 3%, but not a lot; maybe 4% or 5% depending on how you code some of the "other" responses. In a couple years when the information I'm basing my assertion on become public record, I'll be interested to watch the various spins groups on various sides of the funding mechanism will put on it.

The point I was trying to make is we need to talk more on the beauties of the Lord and less on the ugliness of men... I do not condone any act of sexual perversion at all but I do think we dwell on the subject to much. It was in the world when Jesus Christ was on the earth... So was prostitution but did Jesus go to those who were so pure... No he went to the dregs of the society at the time.

I know the scriptures speak of immorality in many church in the days of Christ and his Apostles but then they went to other things... They didn't drag it in the ground!... No one on the board is going to change another one... It is up to the intercession of Jesus Christ to do that if it is his will... And if it is not that is the way it is... But never stop praying for each other because the Lord may choose a different time and circumstance... But it is ALL in his hands to do according to his will and purpose.

We are speaking of the church of the living God... The pillar and ground of the truth and should be careful what issues forth from our pulpits... Sure we should do our duty but we should temper that duty with love... To many brethren want to point the finger and say well if you are doing this you are not God's child... Bullfeathers... They maybe disobedient as was Israel but he never cut them off... Read Romans 9 thru 11... Enemies of the gospel... beloved of the Lord... Beat this dead horse all you like he will never cross the finish line!... Brother Reed knows my stand and is the stand of ALL Primitive Baptist... We are ALL sinners... Except unlike others we don't hide what we are in our sinful flesh... And are not afraid to claim we are Sinner Saved by his Amazing Grace!... Give this Homosexual post a rest we learned more than we need to know... Lets talk about the beauties of the Bible and God's children instead of the ugliness of the world!... I post this in love and for the cause of Christ Jesus!... To each his own!... Brother Glen [IMG]

Looking forward to your new topics, Glen. I, for one, am sick and tired of the gay-pride parade on the BB.

Think I'll start a couple, too, and join you in lifting high the cross that saves FROM perversion and sin!

Well, you weren't kidding about starting new topics, huh, Dr. B? [IMG] I see 3 already. I wonder if there's a record for the person who's started the most topics. I bet you'd win. [IMG]

As for this topic, I just have one more thing to say. Sin is sin. I don't believe God looks on one sin any differently than another. Instead of condemning people to hell, we should be thanking God that He has shone down His grace upon us , and shown us the truth and the knowledge to know when we do something that is sinful. I am completely unable to reveal anything to someone who has yet to be regenerated. God is the only one that can show them the error of their ways. Until He does, all we can do is pray for them and maintain our walk with Him. We should lead by example.

By the way, have any of you brethren, besides Bro. Glen :D , heard of the hymn "An Evening Prayer"? I sing it just about every night before I go to bed. Someone said how can you repent of every sin you commit, when you don't know you committed it. Well, singing this song/prayer is one way. Here are the words.

If I have wounded any soul today,
If I have caused one foot to go astray,
If I have walked in my own willful way,
    Dear Lord forgive.

If I have uttered idle words or vain,
If I have turned aside from want or pain,
Lest I myself shall suffer through the strain,
    Dear Lord forgive.

Forgive the sins I have confessed to Thee,
Forgive the secret sins I do not see,
Oh guide me love me and my Keeper be,
    In Jesus' name.

The words are very beautiful and the music goes beautifully with them.

Let this be my prayer and, hopefully, the prayer of all of us this evening. Amen.
