How often should a pastor preach on giving?

I have heard pastors say they preach a series on giving once a year.

I have heard pastors say they only preach on it when the giving is down in the church.

I have heard pastors say they never specifically preach on it unless the text they are dealing with addresses it.

And I have even heard pastors say they never preach on giving.

    What do you say?

****Note: I do not want this to become a thread to debate tithing, etc. If it becomes that I will ask to have the thread closed.****

I never teach or preach on it, unless it is something that is specific to a particular lesson.

ALL THE TIME! This is not a debatable issue.

All the time, too!! Even when the subject hasn't anything to do with giving--giving is preached---sorta like milking a cow---milk comes out--but so does the cream!!

You preach down to earth--expository sermons--Sunday after Sunday after Sunday--consistantly---there will be no problem with people giving!! In fact--I believe--the better the exposition---the better they'll give!!! Sorta like allowing your Dairy cow to graze in the field full of Alfalfa verses letting them graze in a field full of Coffee weeds and wild onions!!

We're living in the 'age of grace', we are saved by grace, and giving is a grace according to 2 Corinthians 8:1-7.

I don't preach on giving enough!! Learning how to give changed my life and ministry. And has done the same for other as well.

If the text demands it.. it gets preached!

I ususally let the lord lead.. He knows better than I who needs to hear the subject.

C4K, that is where I am at generally as well. But wanted to hear what others thought about the situation.

Our folks are very giving (I assume, I dont really know who gives and who doesnt, but the finances are good). I have never heard dh do a topical sermon on giving, if thats what you are asking, but when a passage has it, he exposes that just as he would any other passage.

I Cor. 16.2 Upon the first [day] of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as [God] hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

This is a good text on giving. Give on Sunday so that we don't have to take offerings when Christ comes, was the interpretation I heard once - actually it was about a half hour interpretation all centered on the Lord coming and that He didn't want to have to pass the plate to pay church bills. And this was in Sunday School - don't know what he preached in the Worship service, I couldn't hear - I was about five miles away by then [IMG]

I personnaly don't preach on giving, unless the text I am using mentions it..and as uk stated, I to like to preach expository.

I have found in my short ministry, that if I do my job correctly and instill into the people the true loveing God as he desires...this takes care of the subject of giving.

Jesus preached on giving, so it's, in part, a part of the Gospel message. It should be preached on. How often it's preached on is entirely up to the pastor, as he is the one who knows to what extent it need to be preached on in his situation.

I abhor critics who complain that pastor so-and-so doesn't preach on this-and-that enough; therefore, pastor so-and-so is a compromiser/liberal/preacher or a false gospel. Each pastor has the privilege of choosing to what extent any biblical topic is touched upon, and how often. Only the pastor has that privilege.

I would preach on the subject when I came to it in the Bible Book Series that I was working through. I would do a series on it of course when the Lord leads to do you. I know that you know that. I deal with the topic at least every six months in a sermon. May be.
