President Obama will be visiting Cooperstown NY tomorrow to tell this tourist town that tourism creates jobs. I would like to personally thank the President for reminding us of this. The Baseball Hall of Fame could've used this information 75 years ago. Fortunately the President has stepped in to correct the problem.

To commemorate the event employees of the hospital that I work for will have to park their cars at another tourist attraction located 6 miles away and be shuttled to work. Employees were advised to expect it to take 30-45 minutes extra to get to work and tardiness would not be tolerated.

Padre, is this making you ill? You may need to take a sick day.

I remember many years ago, I went to Hancock Air Force Base for a haircut at the base PX. Couldn't get on base - President Clinton plane had priority that day.....

I'm transporting 4 cancer patients to their treatment. We've been assured by Captain Obvious's staff that we won't be inconvenienced except for having to go 30 miles out of the way to avoid road closures.

Welcome to the Fund Raising Prez!

He comes to LA/Hollywood no less than five times a year, to RAISE money from all the rich celebrities. And every time he comes, he arrives in the afternoon rush hour, diverting traffic and causing major gridlock on most of the freeways and local streets. Then he leaves in the AM, and again, instead of leaving after the morning rich hour, he leaves in time to cause one last traffic jam, and believe me; people are growing tired of the traffic problems he causes.

I'm not trying to say that he is bad at timing his visits, but Bush always arrived at times that did not tie up traffic, but he also didn't have the rich and affluent stars to tap for money every other month!

I know a lot of folks think the prez could arrive and leave at times that didn't coincide with the peak traffic flow, but oh, no! He seems to love to influence the people and their already troubled travel to and from work!

So, like you, I thank him to, for being so outright thoughtful! At least, I'm not driving in the area any longer, so I don't care, but it is always a big news event, and it reminds me of his thoughtlessness when it comes to the peasants he rules over!

The folks in Cooperstown should treat him like they do all the other tourist. Thanks for coming. Leave your money and go home.

I was thinking that if I owned a store in Cooperstown, it would have been closed today.

He was raised by committed communists -- absentee father and his anti-colonial, communist family -- his mother, grandfather and grandmother who were committed communists, Frank Marshall Davis, the premier American communist who was his mentor at the tender age of ten, and later in life by Saul Alinsky and Bill Ayers.

Why would you expect him to be able to throw a baseball?? I have to wonder if he took up golf against the best instincts of every fiber of his being. A communist playing golf?? Of all the bourgeois capitalistic undertakings!!

All Presidential visits of the modern age have caused the same kind of traffic woes and business closings. Grin and bear it and keep moving.

Cause it pleases him & thats what counts.

    Some political thoughts for you:

Exodus 18:21. 'Moreover, you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness, and place such.......to be rulers.'

'The most important thing is politics is sincerity; and if you can fake that, you've got it made.' Anonymous American politician.

'Those are my principles, sir, and if you don't like them.........I have others.' Groucho Marx.

Well I hope nobody suffers anything serious due to this.

Cooperstown is a beautiful place. You're blessed to live around there.

Hilarious like I will never forget when he was out here and the live news seemed desperate to find someone who cared - they walked up to a woman eagerly staring at the street and said something like "You look so excited, watching for him to come up the road!" and she said "No, my car is over there and they won't let me cross the street until his cars pass." The poor news guy took a second of stuttering to recover from that one and quit trying to get comments off the street.

When he came here both Ballymoney and Dublin went crazy and the secret service agents were thrown a loop when he kept mingling with the crowds. In Dublin somebody handed him a mobile phone to talk to their mother.

The Irish had a bit of a laugh when The Beast got stuck leaving the embassy. You can find that on YouTube.

He seemed to thrive on the crowd.

While the president was up in the North Mrs Obama and the girls popped down to see Glendalough. She wasn't quite so anxious to see people. She had them close the national park so they wouldn't be bothered.

Then they complained about the midgies.

Cooperstown has thrived on the tourist trade for almost 100 years. The reported purpose of his visit is to encourage tourism. If he wants to do something productive, he should go 30 miles north to Ilion and tell the folks at Remington, "If you like your job you can keep your job." ...except for the 80-100 whose jobs are headed for Huntsville AL next month.

There is something positive to report. The streets are terrible in town. We all had the President's route scouted out because a few streets got all their potholes filled in!

I agree that this is nothing worthy of complaint. It is a reality of life when 'famous' people are around. All we can do is live with it.

Unless of course we want our politicians to stay in their gilded cages and never go out in public.

This one could disappear completely and we wouldn't be any better or worse off.
