I'd be willing to wager -- non-monetary, non-binding -- right now that Kerry will mount a campaign for 2008, but will not be the Democratic candidate.

    Any takers?

==In my humble opinion I think Kerry has sunk his political career. He did this by (a) losing in 2004 and (b) his comments on education and the military (regardless of what he actually meant). He may very well try to run but he will be dropped before the end of the primary season. The DNC has new stars and they are not interested in re-running "has beens". They have people like Hillary, Obama, Edwards, and a few others. That is who the DNC will be focusing on this time around. In '00 they ran Gore because it was his turn (kind of like the RNC's choice of Dole in '96) and they settled for Kerry in '04. This time they are going for the win and they very well might have the "star power" to get it.

So, I guess I agree with your statement and cannot wager anything

According to the processes outlined in our Constitution, what you stated is a fallacy. Or a dream. Or simply denial.

    Not me.

I believe he's toast as far as being the democrat nominee goes, but he's far too arrogant to know it.

I agree with your analysis -- my best guess is a Clinton/Obama ticket at the convention.

I find it amazing that the only Christian President in modern history is so hated by the so called Christians on this board. Well Reagan was also, I think.

He's got Jimmy Carter's support, and that is all I've got to say about that.

Kerry is finished, whether or not he wants to accept that fact.

A point worth noting is that Bill Clinton and Al Gore scored higher than Bush, "even as badly as [they are] trashed...." (to usurp your quote)

A bigger question (for me, at least):
what is the significance of this poll as it relates to the GOP frontrunners for 2008? The top two on this poll were Rudy and McCain. In your opinion, does this signal a move away from the right in the GOP?
[That question is directed at anyone who cares to answer.]

To answer my own question: No, I think it's too early to arrive at that conclusion. The last election was particularly bad for the moderate Republicans, most notably Chafee from Rhode Island. HOWEVER, it is rather interesting......

    Regards,
    BiR

I don't like a poll like the one being discussed for the same reason I stopped listening to commercial country music and switched fully to bluegrass music - it tries to be warm and fuzzy and appeal to soccer moms.

So you consider President Carter to be a false prophet?

The same could be said about Bush. After all, he has stated that muslims and christians worship the same god.
