I am running into lots of these types of churches in the Denver area. The Emerging Church is one form that is embodied in a wide variety of denominations like The United Methodist, American Baptist, United Church of Christ, and such. These types of churches seem to have driven the mainstream cults like the JW's and Mormons away from the area or have drastically reduced their numbers.

They all seem to be okay with Homosexuality and they all fail to mention the gospel on their website nor preach at all on sin. You know the Joel Osteen clone churches are better! The last one I looked at had the full gospel on their site and seemed to affirmed the essentials of the faith, but they were very confused in their endorsement of Osteen. So can someone tell me what you know of this movement and if it is indeed heretical? I believe it is, however perhaps they are just very very confused on their doctrines.

Trying to reason with as many as I can and even have an editor assisting me trying to work on more tact. I have also had a few conversations.

Sorry I should learn to use Google before I post.

I've been inspired by your zeal for reaching the heretical churches and have begun a campaign of my own. I didn't think I would receive much, if any, feedback by sending letters to these churches, so I decided I would visit them instead. My church has two services on Sunday mornings, so I am able to still attend a service at my church and also visit a heretical church.

While visiting these churches my goal is to take notes during the sermon and during other times of the services and record what has specifically taken place in that service that I deem heretical. After the service I will confront the pastor and let him/her know where their church has erred and how to get back on the path of righteousness.

I've been able to do these just one Sunday so far, but felt that my words hit home. The pastor of a local "feel good" type church listened to all I had to say and said he would read the tracts I gave him later. My hope is that I can visit a different church each week!

I wish I could do that but it may feel awkward to invade their service. However I have more than 20 pastors that I need to follow up with a phone call soon. I will take a rest from the letters and start the follow up. Also Seeker Churches are not my main target since most in my area preach the gospel and the essentials of the faith, they are just young in the faith, so my primary targets are the heretical churches. Try visiting a Unity School of Christianity Church, and a United Methodist church.

MacArthur does an excellent job in summarizing the real nature of the emerging church. He also does an excellent jog in summarizing the emerging issue behind this generation of professed Christians. People are thinking, well, no one has all the truth, so no one has the right to judge anyone, so let's accept all, and just admit we all have error.

However, the Bible nowhere demands that one must know all truth or be right on all things to become a Christian. Neverthless, there are SOME TRUTHS you must know and are essential to become a Christian and be recognized as such.

Likewise, no church knows all truth or can know all truth, however, there are some truths that are essential to be recognized as a true church of Christ.

These essentials are clear and explicit in Scripture. There are false doctrines that are clear and explicit in scripture that if embraced condemn a person or a church of being heretical.

Knowing all truth is never demanded by Scriptures in order to be a true Christian or be recognized as such, or to be a true church or be recognized as such, but there are essential truths that a person or church must embrace to be recognized as a true Christian and church.

Exactly. I do not send letters to churches that affirm the essentials regardless of their eschatology, bible translation, and view on other secondary issues. I have passed over Pentecostal churches for this reason some of which had women preachers.

I'm just curious, evan, but do you have a threshold percentage of correct "doctrine" that a church must hit to avoid getting a letter from you?

    Eph 2:8-10
    John 3:16-17
    2 Tim 3:16
    Eze 18:4
    John 14:6
    Rom 3:23; 6:23
    Lk 13:3

Basically Jesus is God and the only way to salvation. The Bible is the word of God and man must repent and turn to Christ. Without Christ man will be in Hell forever for his sins condemn him. Justification is by faith alone and without works. Works are done in response to salvation.

So are you looking for bad doctrine within the"progressive" title ?

I know they deny the resurrection. They deny God put his son on a cross for us.That is easy to find. Anyone who sticks up for them can't know anything about them, or they would shun them.

Progressive christianity is not Christianity, and those who practice it are not Christians.

They have driven the Jw's, Mormons and other cults away from the area. Progressives we're rare in my former state so I did not know much about them.

I am not sending emails. I am sending letters with tracts in the mail. Also I don't pester people, as there are too many false churches in the area for that. I have not hit any Catholic churches as of yet.

I didn't pester anyone, and I didn't send letters. I merely posted online.
