Promise Unfulfilled

    This is the title of a new book by a fundamentalist, Rolland McCune, reviewing the history of evangelicalism in the late 20th century. I have seen the table of contents on line but have not read the book. Has anyone else read it? What did you think of it? Comments?

    Doc McCune was a great teacher of mine. I would LOVE to see it, but had not even heard of it.

    His coming from Arminian position/covenant theology into a Reformed and Dispensational position gave me hope for many locked into that error.

    While I cannot vouch that the particular book to which you referred has been reviewed within its contents, visit

    for what I consider the finest bi-monthly paper that has book reviews.

    The print edition (snail mail: 5717 Pine Drive, Raleigh, NC 27606-8947) will have even more.

    While the reviewer(s) as a rule tend to be mildly arminian, most will at least give you a fairly straightforward review.

    The Biblical Evangelist is "Sent 'Free' in the United States As the Lord Provides," but I've supported it financially because it pulls no punches. It'll be up front with you whether you agree w/ its position(s) or not.

    I have more respect for a publication that will do that even if I don't agree wholeheartedly with some of its conclusions.

    Hello, I am new hear, I am not sure how often I will be able to post as well. I read "Promise Unfulfilled." It is probably the best book I read on New-Evangelicalism. It is a good scholarly look at the history of Fundamentalism/Evangelicalism. Dr. McCune does a good job at showing that New-Evangelicalism has been a dissmal faliure, and have never realized its intended purpose.
    A good read, I highly recommend it.

    Rolland McCune is scheduled to speak on the topic of "Promise Unfulfilled" at the National Leadership Conference at Calvary Baptist Church in Lansdale, PA on Friday, Feb 25, 2005.
