That's a nice analogy Bro. David, but something is not working for me.

As Christians(by that I mean people who are saved) we have the Holy Spirit to occupy the playgrounds of our minds. Do you really think that He is going to continue to allow the ever expanding occupation of deception?

As for folks who aren't saved, are not their minds already full of deception from one end to another?

I've pretty much stayed out of all these dicussions because I think our focus is off (a deception in itself, imo). Instead of worrying about whether or not folk have read a certain book or are following a certain preacher shouldn't we be more concerned about the simple study of the Word without all these "contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain"?

Can a positve (the Gospel) be proven with only negatives? Do ya'll even understand what I am saying?

Not sure that I really deserve any accolades, but thanks for the plug, Rippon. Actually, I got the moniker of Langauge Cop some years ago from a college classmate and friend of, now, nearly 40 years. It was originally intended entirely as a joke, but one designation I took and have had many humerous moments with, over these years, since I was first dubbed as Language Cop.

Even I make many typing 'misteaks', which are greatly magnified, due to the twin facts of no formal instruction in typing, at all, as all I do is entirely self-taught, and also that I am a Type II diabetic who suffers from diabetic peripheral neuropathy coupled with some arthritis, which means my fingers do not always act exactly as my brain intends, with the resultant errors that I do often post, unfortunately. This is why so many of my own posts are seen to be edited by me, as I do try and proof-read to eliminate most mistakes, if I see them, before letting the post stand.

I have tried to keep my comments to others somewhat muted, lately, but do still enjoy a good laugh about such, and will still usually comment on some who "set themselves up for a fall", so to speak. But the use of SpelChekTM or something similar, would eliminate many of these obvious errors by many, IMO. But my own extremely limited computer skills do not always allow me to use 'SpelChek', even on our own computer. (However, I usually have no trouble "breaking" the computer!)

My bride is the computer whiz, not me, by any stretch. Any time it does not work correctly, I have to have her to fix it. She merely gratuitously 'allows' me to play on it, sometimes, as on the BB.

I understand what you are saying. However, let's say there was a preacher, we'll call him, Richard Fightbird who had a national and global following. This preacher claimed to be the pastor of a media mogul named Shupert Mirdock. One of the ways that Shupert was monetarily profiting was off of the promotion of porn channels. Now, if Shupert continued in this business, which he has, and this pastor has said nothing publicly to rebuke this sheep and bring him under discipline, does this not reflect a pastor that seems unaligned with the Bible?

Now let's take the same pastor and on Fightbird's website he has a recommendation in favor of the witchcraft book known as Harry Potter. Do we now have a pastor who is effectively promoting or at least effectively is not rebuking two works of the flesh, fornication and witchcraft?

Since many other pastors are following Fightbird, isn't important for Christians to alert the brethren that this pastor is not working for the word of God but seems to be aligned against it?

I don't believe it is up to us(as in the general Christian public) to tell a pastor how to pastor his church members. Sorry, but there must be some respect for pastoral authority.

As for allowing a recommendation to a popular work of fiction to be published on his website, do you really think he even knows? You think the man micromanages everything everyone in his organization does? You'd have more to complain about if Harry Potter was an instuction manuel on how to raise spirits, read tea leaves and sacrifice infants (haven't found reference to that yet in HP, but I'm just starting the last book today). Potter is a fictional character in a fictional setting that is NOT our reality whatever the parallels may be. Worship as we think of it, isn't even part of the background. No praying to dead people (oops that's Catholics), no gold idols, simply no worship whatsoever. It's fiction.

There, I allowed myself to be drawn in. I'm back out again!

Promoting fornication? No. A book / movie about / showing fornication? Depends on the book. As was pointed out already, the Bible is filled with this.

    See above answer.

If "America's Pastor" wants to support a book inspired by demons, work for a billionaire who publishes pornography and his books, and carries "judge not" and ecumental "Christians" views. That would be "America's Pastor", that would be a wonderful representative to show the state of America's spiritual well being. I agree, he is "America's Pator". Founded in compromise.

    He just isn't my pastor.

The Bible does not glorify the sin nor does it shine a nice light on it, the Bible is not filled with it either. It simply shows you what the sin is and then shows you what its affects are.

Sorry just thought I would call it like I saw it. Was my entire message off topic, nope, just stating a little fact and then continuing the discussion. Thanks for noticing though.

Also, I know I can ignore him.

Sometimes it's better to take the high road than call things like you see them however. There seems to be a bit too much of that these days.

Care to delete your prior post...or how would you like that crow cooked up again?
Your "fact" was anything but. In "fact", it proves only your character.

I know this is difficult...hang with me a minute. You posted...''Webdog is not interested in having an intelligent discussion concerning RW and HP. He would rather call people liars and then ask people to not refer to him as "son" or bub". Which to me would be a true sign of a hypocrite, but who am I too judge, right?'...AFTER I replied to rufus, which would refute your entire post that I'm not interested in intelligent discussion.

I know we are moving quick here...but are you following?

How is it possible to get so ugly with each other over something as silly as a series of secular books/movies and a local church's response to them.
