I was reading an article where it said in Biblical days when a man had to be away from his family some times they would make deep scratches in the palm of their hand and then put ashes or some thing similar on the markings telling the name of family members so they could be reminded of them while they were away........any one know any thing about this?

    Thanks, Becky

Becky -- you could be thinking of Zech 13:6. "And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends." To me, it actually speaks of Christ's wounds at the hands of Israel though that would be a secondary, allegorical meaning.
