Hey! I was just elected assistant youth pastor at my church and wanted to ask a few questions.

    1. What do you do at your youth meetings that you consider fun and also has you to learn more about God and The Bible?

    2. What do you do to bring new people (visitors) to your meetings?

    3. Does you like to sit together in the sanctuary as a group or do you seperate and sit with parents, etc?

    4. what do you expect from your youth pastor?

Ok--here's a suggestion...if you don't already, carry some jumper cables in your vehicle. My battery died last night at the church, and the youth minister has no jumper cables  [IMG]
Fun--we did one activity called "Underground church" what you do is divide the youth into teams (with adult drivers) Have clues set around town (each clue points to the next one) have some of your college students set up as the secret police. THe secret police can "arrest" people from the different groups, but they CAN NOT get them in the cars or in the safe house. Have a couple of places designated as a "safe house" (depending on the size of your youth group) The last place is a church service. The student's leave the safe house and get to the church. Then you can talk about how priviledged we are to be able to share our faith and worship how we like.

Our group all sits together at the front.

I expect the youth pastor to listen to concerns that the youth may have. Sometimes the teenagers have something to say that can really add to the youth services. I also expect the youth pastor to be "the adult" (ours sometimes lacks in that area)

    Have fun!

What is the purpose of your youth group? Why do you have a youth group?

Decide on the purposes and everything else should be planned around it.

Answer to # one. We always have some message from the Bible, with a good docternal point. Then we have sowrd drills sometimes. {helps you become more familiar with your Bible} And Sing songs.

Answer to # two. We go out on visitation on Saturday morning to wittness and invite people to church. I usualy ask kids I go to school with to come.

Answer to # three. No we don't all sit together, but I wish we did!

Answer to # four. Someone who can lead us and help us mature in our Christian faith. Someone who follows God's will in his life.

Oh, you might want to add in a whole lot of patience! Anyone who puts up with load teenagers can tell you that you will need a lot!
May God bless you as you seek to serve Him in this way.
