The Bishop of Breda, Tiny Muskens, wants people to start calling God Allah. He says the Netherlands should look to Indonesia, where the Christian churches already pray to Allah. It is also common in the Arab world: Christian and Muslim Arabs use the words God and Allah interchangeably.

Speaking on the Dutch TV programme Network on Monday evening, Bishop Muskens (pictured) says it could take another 100 years but eventually the name Allah will be used by Dutch churches. And that will promote rapprochement between the two religions.
    Retiring
Muskens doesn't expect his idea to be greeted with much enthusiasm. The 71-year-old bishop, who will soon be retiring due to ill health, says God doesn't mind what he is called. God is above such "discussion and bickering". Human beings invented this discussion themselves, he believes, in order to argue about it.
More than 30 years ago Bishop Muskens worked in Indonesia and, there, God was called Allah, even in Catholic churches. The Dutch should learn to get on spontaneously with different cultures, religions and behaviour patterns:
"Someone like me has prayed to Allah yang maha kuasa (Almighty God) for eight years in Indonesia and other priests for 20 or 30 years. In the heart of the Eucharist, God is called Allah over there, so why can't we start doing that together?"
In the Arab world God is called Allah. The long history of Christianity in the Arab world led to the development of a rich Christian-Islamic theological vocabulary, which makes God a normal equivalent to Allah. Both Muslims and Christians use the word in the Middle East......

We have to be careful what we call god. God the father of Jesus is the one we need. You can have a god but if you do not have Jesus you have nothing.

This is just more European appeasement of Muslim immigrants in their country. They are feeding the crocodile hoping that it will eat them last.

The character of "Allah" is not the character of God we worship. They are not one and the same.

The muslim god known as "Allah" is a false and murderous god.

When I see things like this, I am reminded of the types of things that are real important to separate from. Every Christian should be united and clear in their separation from this.

Hey, I'm on your side, alright ?

    But, now, let's see.

What would you say if somebody who is not a believer said the same thing about Jehovah God and pointed out the instances in the Bible when God commanded His people to wipe out their enemies ? At times commanding them to preserve none, even cattle and beasts ?

Just curious, since I always hear Christians talk that way.

When a Muslim says Allah, he or she means the subject of the Quran. When an Arabic speaking Christian says Allah, he or she means the Trinity. Muslims don't believe in the Tirnity:

O people of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter aught concerning Allah save the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His word which He conveyred unto Mary , and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers and say not "Three" - Cease! (it is) better for you! Allah is only one God. Far is it removed from His transcendent majesty that He should have a son. He is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is sufficient as Defender. Surah 4:171 Pickthall translation.

One can use the same term and still mean two different things. :jesus: :godisgood:

If I was talking to someone who wasn't a believer, I wouldn't waste time on God's O/T commands.

If I was talking to a brand new believer, that may be too strong a meat to throw in front of them.

If I was talking to someone I felt had a good grasp on scripture, and could handle it,I would point out how the refusal to follow God's explicit commands doomed Israel.

That still wouldn't answer the question of where we get our moral authority to call their god a murderous god, and their religion a murdering religion, and our God they cannot call a murderous God and our religion they cannot call a murdering religion.

It'll be like Al Sharpton or any black rapper allowed, and even sounding cute, when he calls black women what Don Imus called them, but not cute and racist if Don Imus, or any white guy or non-black used the phrase for black women.

I don't call it a murdering religion, I call it a false religion. I won't study it enough to know if it's a murdering religion, or not. I know it's followers end up in Hell for eternity.

And I don't care what they call my faith.

But it sure is interesting to see the RCC embrace a false religion. We know the RCC has adopted pagan holidays & rituals in their mass, so it's not suprising.

Also, I think the RCC will adopt some kind of muslim something or other, to keep her power. I don't think the last days religion will be Islam, due to their condemnation of sexual immorality. The RCC has actually rewarded prolific child rapists with new victim pools. They do not share Islam's view on family.

For a Christian, that should take care of it. We are called Christians because we are followers of Christ.

He never called on His followers to kill all who do not worship Him.

Our God is the One, True and Living God. Their god does not exist except in their minds. Our God does not call for us to conquer the world by means of murder. They think their god does.

There seems to be a rather large movemnt to get the false god Allah to be considered legitimate. And the use of the word Allah to be legitimate. It is a name of a false god of a murderous religion as is evidenced by the terrorists actions. We are not foolish enough to ignore the facts in the midst of the threat to the world that currently stands.

Our moral authority comes from worshipping the true God. Their god is non existant and they are idolatrous. We are not.
