I have no "opinion" as to why God did it. It is sufficient for me to simply know that He did it.

What is your "opinion" as to why He did it? [IMG]

I am not replying to this question to start a huge debate but I do beleive the Lord seperated the races for a reason. I had a Pastor that once said...Doth nature teach itself that it is a shame for a man to have long hair...In other words there are some things nature just teaches us. I don't think there is a dominate race and I know God loves all people but I really think he intended for us to marry our own race. Speaking of Preacher Phil Kidd he has 2 great tapes on this issue that really helped me and they are:

1)The Effects of an interacial marriage
    2) Racism-(In which he tells where each race came from and why, you can tell he does alot of studying on these issues and it was a great help to me)

It's amazing to me that a someone who calls himself a Christian in the 21st Century still holds to such a racist idea. [IMG]

Everybody who thinks races shouldn't intermarry, please provide some biblical support.

Perhaps God made races because they are asthetically pleasing. IMO Blue and yellow are pretty, but so is green.

But if I'm off base, set me straight with the word of God.

Well, I think your prejudice is showing. Please quote his racist comment, perhaps I missed it.

That's not a biblical view. The Bible doesn't say that God separated the races. The only thing Gen 11 says is that God confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. It does not say that God created separate races. In fact, if you read it carefully, it does not say that God created different languages per se. It only says that God confounded each person so as not to understand another person. This resulted in people dispersing. Note that God originally wanted them to disperse and fill the earth, but they chose to stay in one region, countering God's instructions. The confounding of language resulted in the following of God's instruction to disperse over the earth. Today, population dispersal is a non-issue, so the reason for the confounding of speech no longer exists.

In nature, race is nothing more than variation on physical development. There are only three variations of the human gene: mongoloid (asian), caucasoid (european), and negroud (african). All of the "races" we identify today are mixes of some or all of these three variations.

Do date I can find no biblical reason to promote a "racial separation" view. In fact, the NT disregards race entirely, to the point that, if a believeing Jew and Gentile marry, the NT says they are neither Jew or Greek, but one in Christ Jesus.

oh my goodness! I can't believe some of the misinformation on this thread!

God did NOT separate the races. NOR did He "create" them.

God separated people, and the separation produced small, inbreeding genetic groups. Anytime this happens, in man, animals, plants, whatever, certain characteristics will start to predominante which end up identifying that group.

God created Adam only. Eve was FORMED from him and the rest of us are all genetic results from them.

The physical characteristics can be a mix and match deal, and this should be recognized. The Ethiopian has very dark skin and very straight noses. So is the judgment on the melanin in the skin or the cartilege in the nose? Some Jamaicans can be very light with very flat noses and thick lips. As a matter of fact, so can some Europeans!

What about twins born with such different amounts of melanin in their makeup that they look like they are from two different families altogether?

If it is just melanin which is being considered, how much is 'too much' for 'white'? This is especially interesting when so many light-skinned people are intent on getting more melanin produced in the form of tans and trying to get thicker lips with collagen injections!

The results of "interracial" marriage? Much healthier children, usually! The closer one sticks to one's own genetic heritage, the more likely birth defects will appear. The further outside one's genetic heritage one goes for a marriage partner, the healthier and sturdier the children as a rule. (For the same reason 'mutts' are healthier than 'purebreds'.)

For those who think there are different races, let alone that they should be kept apart, I am wondering what on earth they do when the DNA of a dark person so matches the DNA of a light person that a bone marrow or kidney transplant is far better between them than within the close family?

I know there are a number of Christians who are allergic to 'science,' but I'm afraid the fact of the matter is that there is but one race -- the human race. If you marry outside your race, then you are either marrying an extraterrestrial or an animal. If you are a human being and you marry a human being, you are marrying within your race.

My goodness, because I posed a question that has been asked many times over the century, I have been found to be a racist. Let's see what racist means. 1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2 : racial prejudice or discrimination

Well that is not me. My question was asked in order that we may understand the why of racism. I thought that some theological scholar hear on the board may have the answer or at least an educated opinion. As for myself I can show you the fruit of my ministry that shows a lack a racism on my part. Our jail ministry ministers to all races. We had 11 inmates that accepted Christ as their Savior last week. Seven were black, but that has never made any difference. The Holy Spirit does not have any color. The same Holy Spirit that lives in Paul, lives in me as well as my black brother or brown brother or yellow brother. We are all the same in Christ and praise His name for that.
Now back to my question. I do believe God create the different races for a reason. And yes all 3 races came out of Noah's line. I can only speculate how, but if you follow the places where they settled then you will find that all the races came out of Noah. Now that is not to say that they were not there before the flood, but they were definitely there after the flood. If any of you scholars would like to give us your opinion that would be great.

Are you just going to keep using this as a tease or are you going to give your "opinion" about why you believe God did this?

    The question:
Is a loaded question, and Jail knows it! As has been pointed out by Helen God didn't create seperate races
It also questions the sovernity of God, "did He make a mistake?"

BTW, Jail has yet to answer why he thinks God seperated the races

Well Helen's answer is not entirely correct. Her answer assumes that the only humans alive at the time of Adam and Eve's were Adam and Eve. If that is true then where did the wives come from? I do not want to get to deep at this time, maybe later, but we know that the races were in existence after the flood.
Ken H, I am asking the question and I really don't know the answer. If you know please answer.

Poppycock, Jailminister. We know for a fact that there were 8 people saved by water; that the only reason they became separate "races" was because they settled in different areas.

So we all extend back to the same genetic stock, period.

If you take Genesis literally, then one must accept the idea that Adam and Eve were the first male and female. The origins of the "other people" and the wives of teir children is unimportant to the message of the story. If it were important, then the author would have been inspired to write it down. There's nothing in Gen to imply that the different people were different races. It becomes less important when we take into consideration that all people would be related to the handful of people who survived the flood of Noah.

If you take Genesis non-literally, you must still adhere to the accepted idea that all humans are related to one unique female in Africa (an "Eve", if you will). Hence, we were all of one race, until our natural genetic variations resulted in the three main races we have today.

Either way, there's nothing biblically to suggest (either literally or nonliterally) that God created separate races, or that men should separate by race.

Someone earlier mentioned Bro Kidd (and since I'm a dumb-dumb when it comes to using other's quotes [IMG] )that Bro Kidd had a sermon about interracial marriage...I wonder what makes him an expert, since it seems to me that his views are prejudiced in the first place! I used to think races shouldn't mix, I mistakenly thought the Bible forbade it...when the underlying problem was my own prejudice! The Bible does forbid the mixing of religions, and primarily in the O.T. religions were raced-based (like Indian/Hindu today), I think that Bro Kidd may be taking these OT teachings out of their proper meaning...I am simply speculating since I've never heard of Mr Kidd before I read the other thread about him.I grew up in South Louisville, and I used to see the Black soldiers from Ft Knox with the local White girls and it used to really annoy me, but alas, my prejudice was the real problem, and I had to confess my sin and repent.

I am shocked to hear you espousing liberal views, Jailminister.

The Bible clearly says that Adam and Eve had other children besides Cain, Abel, and Seth. Remember people lived over 900 years at that time in history(maybe you don't believe that when the Bible says it, I do). So they wouldn't necessarily have married until they were several decades old and still be having children for hundreds of years. [IMG]

None of the above. God created them "male and female" (Gen. 1:27).

The "races" are the result of male and female doing what comes naturally, over and over again.
