The federal government should stop trying to raise the minimum wage. It is destructive federal policy and endless rules and regulations that have caused this recession. To quote Al Smith, the only cure for the ills of democracy is more democracy. The Democrats do not want to close the border because they need the votes of illegals to win elections and the presence of millions of illegals demands that wages be frozen or lowered. Democrats also like cheap labor as most businessmen are now Democrats. The GOP also likes cheap labor so there is no real call for raising the minimum wage among politicians, who are currently preoccupied with keeping open borders.

Can you imagine the influx of illegals into this country if we advertised worldwide that we alone would pay at least $15 per hour? That would drive another twenty or thirty million out of Latin America alone, a continent now considered poorer than Africa. Cubans, for example, are limited by law to a salary of $20 to $25 per month; the USA would be saying that 2 hours in this country illegally would be worth a month's pay back home in the communist Shangri-La of Cuba.

Wrong. Increases in minimum wage always add to unemployment and increase the number of people on welfare or some other kind of government assistance. All Wal Mart employees are paid more than minimum wage as are MacDoonald's burger flippers.

True. Hypocrisy at it's finest. What they want is more dues paying members. They don't really care if they make $8 or $15 an hour.

You don't have to go to college in order to set yourself up for a better income, you can learn a skill such as carpentry, plumbing, electrician! My dad only has a GED which he got late in his life but as a plumber he has made as high as $100,000 a year! Women can do the same without paying the high costs of college! Every job doesn't have to be a desk job, you just have to be willing to work hard! Raising the minimum wage to $15.00 an hour would be disastrous!
