    Rules for this thread.

This thread is about the Pre-millennium Rapture and its relationship to politics.

If you are not Pre-mill Rapture, you have two choices:

    1. Pretend you are Pre-mill Rapture
    2. Do not post in this thread.

If anyone starts on the theology against (or even for) the Rapture, I will ask a moderator to delete your post)

This is the reason this thread is in the political forum and not the Theology forum.

If need be - start your own thread in the theology section.

    Ok - here goes:

The rapture happens (in the twinkling of an eye)
Of course there will be major immediate events - Some planes crashing- many auto collisions- ect
Joel Osteen and Joyce Myers will keep preaching for the next three hours   :tongue3:

    Okay, now what happens
(don't have to answer all, just pick and choose)

    to the price of oil
    Congress
POTUS (lets assume Obama is born again)
    Biden becomes President
    Stock market
    Christian radio and TV Stations
    Military
    UN
    Bob Jones University
    International borders

    and any other political situation?

My first thought is "Who cares?" We will be watching from afar and laughing our heads off at all categories.

Congress might not have enough present to be official, or on the other hand they might not notice

Actually, I don't think we will be watching much of anything.

I think we'll be too busy acclimating to His Manifest Presence, preparing for the Marriage Feast, and making sure our horses are ready for The Return. :D

I have long wished that there would be a last days revival and that the reason America didn't figure prominently in end time prophecy was because too many of us flew the coop.

But, I think that once we are taken out, we will no longer be the Salt (preservative) and Light (showing the truth) and the seeds of anarchy sown by our givernment will sprout like weeds.

Oil prices will at least quadruple, for the US, paralyzing grocery and other deliveries.

There will be bloody riots that even M1 Tanks won't be able to quash...

    The Government will collapse...

There will be total chaos in America...

The question I have to ask, as we wait for the upper-taker, is how much of the beginning of sorrows will we see and how many Pre-Mil Rapturist will lose heart when it seems that the rapture didn't take place before the trib.

I firmly believe that the Rature *will* precede the Great Tribulation...

But, I also believe that there will be a beginning of sorrows that will make many think that they are already in the tribulation...

How firm is our faith? Can it (The American Variety) *really* stand any true persecution???

When the time comes we will know it without doubt and without having to marry every current event to end time prophecy making them some type of dooms day event.

The rapture already occurred and so few disappeared that no one noticed. As Jesus predicted, when he returned he didn't find any faith.

    Any new thoughts on this

and let me add one more item.

I was watching the Left Behind series the other night -
They mentioned that there were many sucidies after the Rapture.

sounds as though that could be very possible - thoughts

Slight dip in the price of oil after the rapture as demand will lessen by a couple percentage points, since all Christians will no longer be consuming gas or oil.

Those few congresspeople that have vanished will create special elections or governor appointees to fill their seats. I would guess there would be a halt in legislation until they refilled these positions.

I don't see any change between Biden and Obama's governing style or priorities.

A couple of wild days of declines followed by rallies, then the market will settle in about 5% lower than it was pre-rapture.

Probably go off the air for a day or two until ownership (or ownership succession) can find replacement employees. Then a shift in programming to more secular stuff, or permanent shuttering of doors.

Severe problem with the number of personnel missing, both officers and soldiers coupled with the confusion of the remaining personnel could create a security risk.

    Business as usual.

I would hope the few students that remain would repent and get saved.

    Business as usual.

I foresee a problem with charitable entities no longer existing or operating with limited resources and people. There will be a lot of needy people that won't be getting fed or having a place to sleep at night. This will cause the government to take over administration of these charities.

    Biden Becomes President!

The GOP starts to believe their chances in 2012 have dramatically improved. Romney begins looking for a home in DC, and Cain settles, again, with the women accusing him of sexual harassment, this time he gives each of them 10 percent share of ownership in Dominoes Pizza!

    Christian Radio and TV Stations

Most radio stations go immediately to dead sound and slowly fade out, while TBN decides to hold a special week of Fund-a-Thons to make up for a sudden decline in donations.

FreeAtLast's predictions about the military might finaly come true, as they will step in and enforce Martial Law.

I do not believe that the rapture will set off anything like chaos. I think the US will already have fallen as a nation and have no particular significance in the world. I believe at the time of the rapture we will already be a military state. If anyone saw 60 minutes this last Sunday they saw how our corrupt legislators have made insider trading legal for them and against the law for everyone else. This corruption will grow until the time of our fall as a nation and the rapture takes place.

I believe the world as a whole will be in such turmoil that at the rapture that which hinders will be removed and the antichrist will be made known and he will offer the world a fix for its problems and it will gladly jump on board with him. At that time the tribulation will begin and things will get worse, after a short time of world peace, instead of better.
I do not see the rapture itself bringing about anything significant as in great political change except the reveling of the antichrist.

I kind of think along the same lines, FreeAtLast, only I am not so sure that the turmoil will be in place before the Rapture. It is possible, and I am not going to say it's not, but I have just always been of the opinion that the rapture would cause most of the chaos that the anti-christ will use to bring himself into power.

Let me make this one point. The reason I think the chaos will already be in place is because we are seeing it already happening in the world and I see no reason to think things are going to get better before the rapture. Yes they will go from bad to worse after the rapture, but I really feel the world will already be primed for the antichrist to just move in without any big change in the world's circumstances to have it happen.

Let me add this. I do not think Christian radio stations will go dead and churches emptied and multitudes of planes crashes and auto accidents and so on. I say that because I don't think there will be enough people who are alive and really are Christians to rapture a multitude. Only a very few will be raptured in my opinion. I base that on Noah where only eight people escaped and Lot and only three. All the things mentioned will continue on as normal because so many are being led by false Christians.

I also agree that there will be many professing christians who will not be raptured as they aren't really believers. On the flip side, I also believe that there are many who will be raptured that would surprise people that they are saved. (I have heard people say that you (FreeAtLast) don't believe in backslidden believers, even though I don't recall you actually stating it that I've read. If this is true, you probably don't hold to the same opinion.)
Yes, the world is already starting to go to chaos, but I can't help but think that if it were to get too bad just before the rapture, then that would be a clear sign and would go against the verse that says "no man knoweth the hour" and "when such an hour ye think not".

Salty I have met Tim LaHaye and he is a fine man and brother, but the series left behind is fiction. There is very little biblical truth in the series excpet that the rapture will take place. After that it is fiction. So I never put any stock in that series except if I want to watch fiction. Could he be right about many people taking their lives. I suppose but what is he basing it on?
I think there will be so few that leave here in the rapture that no one will miss them or even know it happened.

Obviously I realize the move is fiction - but it does present some very interesting settings. I will agree that a reporter getting a Jewish Rabbi to say on national TV that Jesus is Messiah - is a bit of an exaggeration - but then again.....

The Reason I brought up suicided is that many people will loose (possibly - all) family members. With the world in kaos and ect, they may consider suicide the only escape.

However, I think there will be millions in the rapture. Will some airplanes crash - yes ; will there be automobile collision due to absent drivers - yes, will doctors who are preforming delicate operations.....
But with 7 billion people on the earth, there will be many communities that may not even realize it happened.
and those are the communities that we need to share the Gospel!

BTW, when you met LaHaye, what was it like - was it just for a moment, or were you able to have a good discussion with him?
