Rasmussen: ObamaCare support plunges to new low

November 23, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

The more people see of ObamaCare and the way Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have to force it through Congress, the less they like it. Rasmussen’s latest survey on the legislation shows support for the bill reaching its nadir, 38%, with an 18-point deficit from public opposition, which is 56%. It’s the first time in Rasmussen’s surveys of likely voters that support for Barack Obama’s signature agenda item has dropped below 40%:

If only we could convince the majority of Senators to vote against this bill, it would be great. I fear that the democrats will not cave on this and pass it anyway.

Unless I am wrong, this health care law will not go into effect for a few years. if this is the case maybe passing it will end up being a blessing. Once it is law and the people finally understand how this will mess things up, it could be a nail in the democrat coffin for future elections. Then, of course, this law could be overturned,.

The Senators who vote for the health care will find that the voters do not appreciate their Insurance being messed with . Ditto for those in the House OF Representives. I suspect that the members who vote yes are going to havea rude and very deserved awakening in November 2010

But the tax increases and medicare cuts begin immediately, making it a real problem to undo.

It looks like a no win situation. What do you suggest we do now?

There's not really anything we can do, IMO. This boondoggle is going to pass. There's not enough votes to stop it. And once it passes, most private insurance will go under (or under the auspices of "being bailed out," will become government entities).

When that happens, and government is the only option, most folks will resign themselves to having Obamacare. (not me or my family)

Sorry. I think it's a done deal, and yes...it will destroy our economy.

They have only squandered a small percentage of the stimulus package, and are postponing implimentation of the HC legislation until after the 2012 election cycle. This, they hope, will continue the economy sufficiently in tact, to provide a hope for re-election of the democrats, including Obama... Once in power in 2012, all the stored up economic bomb, will be unleashed, with over $600 billion left in stimulus funding to try re-stimulation (nationalizing).

    Keep fighting. Never give up.

Joe Lieberman and Ben Nelson are the only hope.

Lieberman is a principled man and said he would not support any legislation with a public option and Nelson is the only truly moderate democrat in the senate and he has said the same thing.

If Olympia Snowe doesn't sell out and one of these two men are as good as their word, it can still be stopped.

    Yes, I know.

Then we would need both of them. Still possible.

If martial law has not been declared over some imagined national emergency and there is a 2010 election, most people will forget it ever happened.

You're overestimating the mentality of the average voter, and underestimating the Socialist's will to subdue this nation by any means.

You are under estimating the passion behind the opposition and the fact that voters have woken up and are darn mad.

If something could be done RIGHT NOW, I agree with you, but if this abortion of legislation passes, only to lie dormant for a year or so before the enforcement begins, then I'm afraid that the average Joe will be so enamored with Monday night football, Dancing with the Stars, plenty of beer in the fridge, etc that the horrors to come will be just shrugged off as "Ain't nuthin bad happen yet, so I ain't gonna fret over it!!"

Course when the bill does kick in, most will have forgotten what they were so upset about and wonder how such an abomination could have ever come to pass.

The public is very fickle, and sorely lacking in discernment! If this were not so, this "mafia" of an administration would have never seen the light of day to begin with!

The "0" gave all manner of clues as to what to expect before he was "put" in office, and still people just slobbered over him; as many (on this board anyway) still do.

2010 is an election year so it will remain a hot issue on the table. Also the only real news source out there Fox News will keep it alive to be sure.
