There's no perfect candidate, but I'm certainly not going to strain at a gnat (most Republicans) and swallow a camel (Democrats).

So here is how I rate the candidates between 1 and 10 with 10 being almost perfect.

    Duncan Hunter - 9
    Fred Thompson - 8
    Mike Huckabee - 6.5
    Ron Paul - 6
    Mitt Romney - 5.5
    John McCain - 4
    Ruddy Giuliani - 1.5

    Hillary - .5
    Obama -1
    Edwards - 0
    Richardson - 1

    How do you rate them?

I'll rate them way, on a scale of 1-100.

Under no circumstances would I ever even consider voting for anyone whom I could not rate at least a 35, for either President or Vice President, at least. In that case, I would likely stay home, and I have missed exactly one primary election (and that was when I was not released from the hospital when I had been hospitalized for a week and was released that day, until too late to reach the polling place) and no general elections in 41 years, since I was old enough to vote.

    Democrats:

    Sen. Barack Obama -- 46.5
    Sen. John Edwards --- 54.6
    Gov. Bill Richardson -- 60.1
    Sen. Hillary Clinton --- 60.2
    Rep. Dennis Kucinich - 61.1
    Sen. Chris Dodd ------ 63.7
    Sen. Joe Biden ------- 65.1
    Sen. Mike Gravel ----- 77.7

    Republicans:

    Gov. Mike Huckabee -- 52.4
    Amb. Alan Keyes ----- 57.4
    Rep. Duncan Hunter -- 59.7
    Gov. Mitt Romney ---- 60.9
    May. Rudy Giuliani ---- 63.7
    Sen. Fred Thompson-- 65.4
    Sen. John McCain ---- 71.4
    Rep. Ron Paul -------- 72.4

That is how I would rate the eight 'officially announced' candidates of the Democrat and Republican parties, on one scale.

However, when I have seen them speak on TV, I would say that to me, Sen. Fred Thompson appears to stand a head above the other 15 candidates of both the major parties.

Here is my rating based on the possibility that I would vote for them in the general election on a scale of 1-10(10 meaning a definite vote for):

    Ron Paul 10

    Fred Thompson 8

All other Republican and Democratic presidential candidates 0

Ken is pithy . I would just reverse the numbers for Paul and Thompson . Otherwise , I'm in agreement .

What in the world makes Obama number one on your list? What?! Is it his vow to relegalize partial-birth abortion? Or his promise to raise taxes?
