re: 3x church thread

The Church staff should not be in some office during Church services, they should be in the Sanctuary.

 

umm....serving at a church involves work on Sundays and Wednesdays.

They are in the Sanctuary...(and our education wing, and our preschool wing, etc.,)...working. It's ministry, but it's also work.

 

I do appologize, I didnt have time to go through and read all the posts in this thread. I read the first few and the last few.

do I think I am going to hell for not attending church as many times as I can? no. But you have to understand, I attend church at one of the biggest churches in Houston, 40000 members in 5 locations, atleast 10,000 attend Sunday mornings at my church alone. There is something going on there every night of the week. When I first started attending I was involved in everything I could be involved in. Sundays of course were morning sermans followed by bible study, then evening service, we had traditional and contemporary, I chose the ladder. But mornings I go to traditional cause I love the choir and contemporary has a band, not a choir. Tuesdays I did something called bible in 90 days, unfortunantly I didnt meet that quota. Wednesdays they didnt really have a service per say, we had something called outreach, which is just as it sounds, members of bible study classes went there to wright letters or call new members or visitors to welcome them to the church, or to people who havnt attended the class in awhile just to make sure they were ok or see if they needed anything, and there was a small sermon during this time. Thursdays I went to small group, which was and is very important to my growth as a Christian. And Saturday night was a sermon for people who couldnt attend Sunday mornings.

With all this there is a time when people start to become burnt out, and attending church becomes an obligation. I dont know about yall but I dont want my worship and praise to be an obligation. I love attending church and I really like to hear my pastor speak, the man is very moving. So I when I started to feel burnt out I decided to start attending less things. Does that make me any less of a Christian? I dont think so.

It is so sad to see the legalistic church of today tell those of us that do ministry how to do it...

No wonder churches are shutting their doors...
Legalists are killing them... Legalism is the work of Satan...

Good example of how a program-driven model can run people to death. In my opinion....I think the program model can miss the point sometimes. I think some churches need to program less....and get involved in their community more....like, for example....coaching little league baseball that has games on Wednesday nights!! GASP!

No wonder churches are preaching less of the Word of God in the pulpit. People are being deceived into believing they don't have to abide by it. Liberalism is the work of satan.

Not all liberals deny the virgin birth, my friend.

Many believe in the virgin birth but deny the commands of the Lord. Many put down others accusing them of living in the 20th Century . Many liberals put down others who believe in putting the Lord first and foremost..

Many liberals don't care for pastors who tell their assembly that they should be in Church when the doors are open.

 

Pharisees lived in the 1st century also.

 

Actually, tim. The Bible does command being in Church more now than ever as pointed out on the previous page and others as well. And it also says to obey those in authority.

Since the pastor is the shepherd of the flock, if the shepherd tells the congregation they are to assemble more ofen to be fed the Word of God and to fellowship and strengthen one another, then that flock under his care should attend to those words.

There is no command spoken by that shepherd in contradiction to the Word of God. If he tells them he wants them in Church twice on Sunday and once on Wednesday, they should be there... whether they like it or not.

No, if they don't like it, they should remove their names from the membership if they are not willing to listen to their pastor in the matters of the Word... especially if what the pastor says lines up with the Word.

 

Translation: "Disagree with me? You're a liberal!"

Redefining the classic definition of a liberal will not further your cause...
Go back and look at what a liberal is verses a fundamentalist.

Fundamentalism arose out of reaction to liberals...
I am not a liberal... I hold strictly to the fundamentals.

 

According to some, you only have to go 3X a week.

What if your church only meets once a week, as do some in my area?

Think I'll join one of them, so I won't have to go so often!

So let me get this straight, we live in the 21st century, but when we lived in the 20th century we were all liberals? Or is it those that are still backwards and want to live in the 20th century, they are the liberals?
