I guess the eco-nuts were right about global warming. The official high today was 101 degrees F! I hope this is not going to be the summer to make up for all the mild weather we have had the last few years.

I woke up to a foot of new snow this morning. Had to drive the school bus in it because everyone had the plows already put up. They got the plows out about the time we finished with the kids.

Know what? I don't envy you. I like snow and mild temps. If you ever want to come for a visit, our record high ever was 83, and we are the halibut fishing capital of the world.

I have heard the 7 year drought, up here, is over. We have had over 120" of snow, and the rivers are already rising. It snowed today, briefly, and the papers predict a lot of rain.

ON the 17th the temperature in the afternoon
    was 98-degrees-F. The former record
for 17 April was 92-degrees-F. Fortunately
a cool front is to come through later
today and (not rain but) cool the temps
    down to closer to 'average'.

Relief is on the way; after three 100+ days, 70s are in the forecast for Wednesday.

Well, if you take the world record bass (25 pounds), that would be the smallest halibut we would keep. The official world record halibut is 459 pounds, but judging by the picture, it is about half the size of one caught near St. Lawrence Island. (The unofficial one was caught hundreds of miles from the neartest scales and they had no reasonable way to save it.)

Oops! I just looked it up and someone has caught a bigger one! New World Record Halibut
