Companies are not hiring because there isn't sufficient demand for their goods and services to need extra employees. Obamacare has little to do with it.

Yeah, I'm sure it's just coincidence.

Yes, it is just a coincidence. There are no provisions of Obamacare that would affect employers scheduled to kick in until January 2012. At that time employers must disclose the value of the benefits they provided beginning in 2012 for each employee's health insurance coverage on the employees' annual Form W-2's. I seriously doubt that if a company needed extra workers since April 2010 (as the chart you posted indicates) would hold off on hiring someone because they would have to report the value of their health insurance benefit on W-2 forms distributed IN JANUARY 2013.

I suspect the economy will not get much better as long as Obama is in office, and probably worse.

Obamacare is only one of many burdens he saddled business with. There will be others , if he gets his way.

He is the most anti-business president in history.

No its not. It matters not when it is set to kick in. Just knowing that it is coming and it will cost them more per employee is enough not to do it now.

    The Cato Inst. says:

Obamacare is a job killer. Period.

Again, companies hire if the demand for their goods and services requires that they add more employees. If that happens they won't care too much about the provisions of ObamaCare.

If a company needs to hire more workers they will do so and adjust the salary downward to take into account the added costs of Obamacare.

Is the reverse true? If ObamaCare gets repealed will companies start hiring people causing the unemployment rate plummet?

Have you ever owned or run a business? It doesn't sound like it. When the risk appears to high busines owners are content to staying at a certainl level. What you are saying is more of an over simplification than anything else.

Add to that you completely ignored the supporting documentation I gave. Since you refused to deal with that point by point it appears you just want to be right regardless of the facts.

I've am currently President of a small C-corporation and have been for 22 years.

It's not complicated. If a business has strong sales and wants to expand they will hire more workers. It is really that simple. Regulations taking effect 2 1/2 years down the road will not be much of a factor.

I proved otherwise. And it is out of ignorance that one would suggest the only thing that business owners use to determine their growth is strong business sales. In fact it is absurd.

I don't remember using the word 'only.' Nope, I re-read my posts and I don't see it.

If ObamaCare gets repealed then unemployment will go down, correct?

But it is the only factor you are using in this thread.

And the economy will start to move forward as a whole. It is one of a list of primary factors.

Look...regardless of whether or not one could prove the causal link inferred in the OP, there are several things that almost all economists agree on.

    1. Business in general is a risk.
    2. Businesses try to minimize risk as much as possible.
    3. Uncertainty increases hesitation.

InTheLight, while the specifics of your argument (date of implementation, etc) might be accurate, you greatly underestimate the impact of fear on investment. As in any church, we have business owners. Two have specifically told me that they are at a point where (in the past) they would have rehired laborers (One, a plumber, would add one addiitional worker; another, a construction business owner, said he would hire three). They both stated that they are simply "too unsure about things" to make the move. Again, the facts are not the problem; the fear of an anti-business climate is the problem. Now, this is just anecdotal, but it affirms what has long been known of how businesses operate (atleast what we learned when I was an economics major).

No, I'm not discounting the uncertainty factor. It can be paralyzing. However, the context of the OP is that ObamaCare is stalling the recovery. There is nothing uncertain about ObamaCare! We know the timeline and the worst possible scenarios it might bring.

I totally get what those two business owners are going through. There is a lot of general uncertainty in the business climate today. However, the real question is this--Is ObamaCare causing these owners to not rehire people? I bet the answer to that specific question is no.

The CBO disagrees with you, heritage disagrees with you, Cato disagree with you. Your assertion has been proven false and without and substance.

Hmmm... the CBO, CATO, et al, think that those two business owners that Crucified with Christ knows is naming ObamaCare as the factor stopping them from re-hiring people?
