I have no idea what "reformed" means. I have a beard (chin beard), and I'm born again.

Weren't beards sort of the norm in the 19th century and then that changed after WW1? That's when soldiers were first required to have clean-shaven faces for gas-mask safety.

    Bearded and Reformed

I too have noticed that the 19 Century in America, a great many men were bearded. This truly was a unique time in our history, and I wouldn't mind a comeback of respect for men's facial hair.

It seems that beards get a bad rap these days. People have all sorts of preconceived notions.

God blessed man with the ability to grow a beard. The appearance of a beard separates males from females. It is a masculine trait, no different that the pitch of one's voice. Why would any man intentionally speak with a high voice to sound like a lady, unless he wanted to feminize himself in some way? The same is true for the shaven male face. The man who shaves himself "clean" every morning is succeeding in grooming himself according to an ideal put forth by a feminized culture.

You just used the word man in a generic way!

    Hmm...

    Another Hmm...

Are you being humorous? You're new here. I don't know where you are coming from. If you are serious --that is sure an interesting observation. One that I do not agree with, but interesting anyway.

I don't know about reformed and beard going together. I was Anglican when I first grew my beard. After 3 years of dragging a dull blade over my face, shaving out of mud puddles and dodging bullets, a beard was a sign of victory.

In my early beard days, many churches refused pastors with beards. I did shave it off a few times for the sake of the gospel and service. I may have shaved more if I could find an electric outlet!

Cheers, and bearded forever, and reformed,

    Jim
