I think JD's comment is on the money, that was when the military started requiring shaven faces so the gas masks would work. I am sure the mass marketing of the safety razor helped some also.

I grow mine out every winter and shave every spring. I don't like the heat in the summer but do enjoy it in the winter.

When I feel like wearing a beard, I grow one. When I do not, I shave. It reminds me that my sovereign God has given me choice.

I have had a mustache for 38 years, don't have an reason for that. Hmmmmmm so that must be what predestination is all about.

I dont have a beard (I do have a mustach), but I have at times have worn a beard.

I can not for the life of me figure out what THIS means....

Cutting of the flesh is obvious, but what is this "shave off the corner of their beard" buisness?? Beards dont have "corners" like a wall or a box do. It just grows out of the face. And a face round'ish

    What does it mean?

Yes, I have - and it feels great!!!

And I concur - same thing about long hair. Too much hair, head or chin will break the seal on your M-17

My brother used to do that every year (not sure if he still does) and because of him, I did that for a couple of years.

So what about a mustache - does that make you 1/2 reformed?

My DOM has had a beard for years - in fact kids call him Santa Clause, I would say he is refomed

Myself - I have reformed myself not to have a beard because of Mrs Salty :saint:

A while back a friend of mine was showing me some very old photos or distant relatives going back to the 1800's.

He showed me a photo of a great great great aunt of his.

    You guessed it...

She had a beard. :wavey:
