Earth is "on the brink of entering another Ice Age," according to one report.

Pravda, Russia's online newspaper, claims evidence shows the warm, 12,000-year Holocene period will soon end, and the planet will experience a glacial age for the next 100,000 years.

    You trust Pravda?

I have to say, from most posters this wouldn't raise an eyebrow, but for the good rev to quote Pravda was quite a shock :)

    Interesting:

If the earth is facing an ice age then the cause is the relationship of the tilt of the earth and it's orbit around the sun...... Otherwords, it's position and interactions with forces in space.

But if the earth is warming, it is because of polution and green house gases, the methane produced by the normal physiology of humans and animals, the polutants of industry, and the carbon emissions and polutions of crude oil products and coal.

    MP,
You really jump the gun here just to ridicule another poster?

The Rev refers to an article which takes the position of responding to an assertion made in Pravda.

Perhaps you should follow the link and read before posting.

The point is still valid and there is no 'ridicule.'

The WND for some reason here chooses to trust Pravda and the rev posts that position here.

I just find it humorous that arch conservatives would use Pravda as a source of truth.

Catcher, perhaps you should take that chill pill I offered you before! It was an observation of irony, since Mitch is always accusing people of being commies. Then he trusts an article using Pravda as a source. You missed the it dear! As Roger correctly pointed out, there was no ridicule. The laughing smilie was laughing at the obvious irony, not at Mitch.

I repeat what I have told you before...don't be so quick to be offended at things where there is nothing to be offended about.

==I've read several articles to this effect (though I read nothing from WND) and CNN's Lou Dobbs had a segment on the new ice age not too long ago. Nobody really knows what is happening with the climate. Historically the earth has been warming, how long that will continue is an issue of wait and see. Whether or not this theory is true will have to be seen over time.

It is so cold here in Eastern Ontario this morning my breath doesn't want to leave my mouth! It is -30c, with wind chill, -37.

    Global warming, they say!

    Cheers,

    Jim

If the Earth should be entering an ice age, then the leveling out of the temperature proves that Man-made conditions are causing GLOBAL WARMING climate changes:1_grouphug:

    Say what?

You mean it's getting colder, because it's getting warmer?

    Okey-dokey, then...
Does that mean that if it's hot this summer, it's because of manmade global cooling?

I know this cold snap is royally messing up the manmade global warming agenda...but hey, them's the breaks.

This is great news! Now we can stop overusing the stupid "green" moniker on everything. We're "going white"!

That way the false alarmists have all their basis covered and they can attribute anything to their very flawed computer models and continue to ignore the change in the sun and other natural occurrences.

It is 18-degrees-F outside my house. Inside, I'm hot. It was up to 59-degrees-F yesterday - the average is 33 - just above freezing.

Let us take the falling bricks symbol and turn the falling stuff into ice cubes :tonofbricks:

Again, the average world-wide is what counts. I even told you before the inernational press did: 2008 is the COLDEST year in the 21st Century (2001-2100) so far, the in the Third Millennium (2001-3000) so far, still it ALSO the 10th HOTTEST in the time 1880-2008.

The world is going to hell in a hand basket. I think hell will be full :type: of tooting cows

What is the record low HIGH for 16 Jan in your venue?

Here is the average low/high for Ottawa ON in Jan:
5°F / 23°F if is is -30C, then that is below average

average high for 16 Jan , in Oklahoma City OK (1971-2000)
47, It was 50°F yesterday, that is above average

highest high for 16 Jan, in Oklahoma City 76 1894
coldest high for 16 Jan, in Oklahoma City 11 1930

One below, one above. Every time you come up with one below, I'll come up with one above. What is the worldwide stats for all ALL YEAR? That determines global warming.
