So clearly he is less worried about it than some others. If he isn't making a big deal out of it, why should we ?

It's like when Obama used the "lipstick on a pig" analogy, it had been used by McCain and Palin said it didn't bother her yet it was big time offensive in this forum. So the standard now is if it doesn't offend the candidate then we have no reason to be offended? Is that the standard we use going forward?

No it's not. Paul Shanklin has no authority. I thought it was silly, but a presidential candidate's words should have a little more gravity than a talk show host, shouldn't it ? That's what John Stewart said....

There were some that at least one of those meant to leave out 40% of them; right?

Yeah, it's called "none of my business".

Don't like it, don't listen to it.

Not on topic. Not every political conversation has to be laced with abortion talk.

    Back to the OP.
It was in bad taste to put that on a CD as a gift.
It should not be censored from the airways.
I do pity the people who still subscribe to the egocentric pill popping Maja Rushy.

I agree, and go further in saying it was a very stupid gift to give publicly. "Barak the Magic Negro" is an extremely eye catching phrase, so I won't buy that is just slipped by everyone.

But the song isn't racial. And Rush has asked for your forgiveness for his crime. You should probably give it to him.

If my memory is correct the Declaration of Independence included all people.

However the original Constitution does not include all people. The slave holding states did not want to count slaves as people, the non-slave holding states wanted one person to count as one person. This argument resulted in the three-fifths compromise.

The three-fifths compromise is found in Article 1, Section 2, Paragraph 3 of the United States Constitution:

“ Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons.

The other persons were slaves. Thus, by this definition a slave was not a whole person but three-fifths of a person.

Just FYI , Article XIV changed that, in 1868. But with southern democrat opposition it was 100 years before blacks could legally vote, in some states.

I wonder when choose became standard spelling of chuse?

    The dictionary says:

    chuse ... Archaic. choose.
