Just a thought, I'd like to set up a poll that is more international in scope. Say something with US, Canadian, Mexican, UK/NI, Australian, Dutch,... sections. However, I am not all that sure of the parties to include from Australia, Holland, and the UK/NI. If those with such local knowledge would post the appropriate names, I'd appreciate it.

You do not have to be a member or supporter of a given party to list its name.

When I set the poll up, I will delete this thread.

For Australia we have the following.

The Liberal Party - The current majority, and although they are called Liberal they are Right Wing.

The National Party - In coalition government with the Liberal Party, representing mainly country electorates.

The Labor Party - The main opposition, centre to Left.

The Greens - have two senate seats, extreme Left.

Family First, fledgling Christian party, has one senate seat.

Keith, I don't have time to go into great detail but if you go to the British election thread in 'News' Forum, I've put up a link to a British Party Political quiz which will give you handy info as to our main parties

    Yours in Christ

In the UK the main parties are:

Labour, currently in government and definitely certain to win the election on May 5. They have become politically more right wing under Tony Blair eg Iraq war, but socially very liberal eg very pro gay, pro abortion.

Conservative (also called Tories). Have no chance of winning on May 5 which is a pity as they have a significant pro life and pro family members.

On economic policy there is not much to choose between them.

Liberal Democrats. They have some half baked policies viz. giving prisoners the vote and they look certain to increase their MPs at the election but won't form the govt.

We also have Scottish Nationalists SNP and Welsh Nationlists Plaid Cymru who want to break away from the UK.

In Northern Ireland the situation is very complex and it would be better if a BB member from NI answers that point.

    Hope this is helpful,

    Bob

I forgot to mention that we also have a few nut case parties viz. Greens (who have no idea how to run an econonmy), Socialists, Mnster Raving Loony Party (yes, I am not joking), Veritas, Uk Independant Party who want to break away from Europe.

None of these parties has a remote chance of getting a single MP but they give us all a good laugh!
