His purposes are new age Christianity. However, it would appear another one of his purposes is spreading witchcraft to the masses, which is what this thread is about.

I wouldn't recommend eating liver and onions to anyone, either, but there's nothing wrong with liver and onions. If my kids liked liver and onions I'd make it for them. Do you get the reasoning now?

I only question why RW would recommend the book because I don't get the point. Is he in the habit of reviewing secular reading material?

Not in the least... okay maybe some. Still, can't you see the point I am making?

Not all Christians consider Potter to be just some secular book...to some it's a tool for evangelism...

Christ referred to the Pharisees...a sad bunch that...
    • did not believe that Jesus was God.
    • actively tried to submarine Christ's work.
    • spoke against Christ whenever possible.
    • used the Law to beat people into submission to their rules & power.
    • took offense whenever Christ would miraculously change a life.
    • took arrogance and pride to a new level.
    • plotted to kill the Son of God.
    • carried out that plot.
Now tell me...exactly how is Rick Warren's life and ministry parallel to the Pharisees?

And come on...words mean something. Your insinuation that "hey, I'm not as harsh as Jesus" was meant to slam Warren. That was obvious.

I maintain that you owe RW an apology. Don't want to give one? Fine...but one question:

If God reveals to you this evening that you were out of line with your comments, would you offer one then?

Not really. I don't think Harry Potter is in any way comparable to porn.

Umm...the beam is in your eye (Bible), not Pinochio (fairy tale).

I see you still have no care about calling names. Does it cause you some kind of excitement to offend your brethern?

Rufus, I'm out. I know I was a part of the derailment, and I aplogize for that...but I couldn't let a brother in Christ be slandered without saying something.

    Carry on. :wavey: Bye.

It's comparable in that both are works of the flesh...

"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies," - Galatians 5:19-20

Evangelism for what? Christian evangelism, or witchcraft evangelism?

If you mean Christian evangelism, well, that seems wacky to me, but what do I know? If you mean witchcraft evangelism, then I bet there are tons of books better for that. Harry Potter seems rather lame to me.

You guys have no problem with "hatred, wrath and strife", though, huh?

Yes I know who Christ was referring to. See my last post again, I stated I was using an example.

yes words mean much. See James 3.

It wasn't obvious, for that is not what I meant, but if you read it that way, fine.

Maintain and demand all day... it will be a long day.

On the last quote, you bet your britches I will.

Does that mean I shouldn't read any of the left behind series (wrath)? Or a film about racism (hatred)? Or a film about someone who has succumbed to the glitter of hollywod (idolatry)?

Do you see my point? Just because a book or movie is about wrath and idolatry doesn't mean it encourages wrath or idolatry.

Porn encourages lacivious behavior. It exists to excite lust. That's the point of porn. Harry Potter exists for entertainment, not to entice people into witchcraft. Such as it is, Harry Potter actually encourages sleep in me, but for my kids, it's just a fun read.

    No comparison.

I am opposed to all works of the flesh. Can the pastor you're defending say the same?

You would be hard pressed to believe that after reading your comments here.
