Wow!

    Did this thread just get confusing! Did someone merge two threads together?

    Richard,

    If you decide to return to the BB, also don't forget to follow the rules that you agreed to when you registered. It will make your time here more pleasant and folks won't be questioning you motives and honor as much.

    Richard,

    The one acting like a baby, bashing his opponents, and who is just plain boring is you!

    Answer one substantive question, please. Or are you only able to wine about your treatment for SPAMING this Board?

    I am quite sure you will be very happy there.

    This was one of the saddest/disappointing interactions I have ever experienced online. Teen boards and young college boards (and chat rooms r websites) have responded with more maturity. I recommend agenttimeonline.com, for example. He is 14 YEAR OLD who is not only thoughtful about Warren, but also has raised very good concerns and is fair-minded—not to mention respectful and civil. Incredible.

    The word "Baptist" should be taken off this board. I suggest the following:

    - Bashing Board: The Rudeness Will Cause You to Flee
    - Baby Board: The Immaturity Will Make You Cry
    - Boring Board: The Lack of Intellectual Interaction Will Curl Your Hair

    best to all, oh well.

    I can see the arrogance of the PDL shining through your posts. Too bad you don't show the love of Christ, or even enough honesty to abide by the rules you agreed to follow when you registered. See ya later. Y'all come back now, ya hear? Anytime you want to come discuss Rick Warren and teh PDL without giving a self righteous, elitist lecture or selling your book (which is against the rules that you agreed to follow), come on back and let's talk.

    </font>
No,no,no, Paul. You still don't get it, do you? You got to but his book to see his answers. He isn't going to give you that for free. He only came here to spam. Wait...that is against the rules he agreed to. HMMMMMMM...I am sensing a lack of honor and honesty on his part.

    Karen,

    Thanks for the balanced response and questions.

    When I preached through the PDL, giving ample credit to Warren throughout, I discovered to my disappointment that the references to Scripture didn't line up with the quotes from Scripture or the points he was trying to make.

    I found his points good and helpful. But the Scripture references when looked up in a good translation didn't support what Warren was teaching.

    If you write down every reference and follow along with the NIV, for example, you will soon discover that the Scripture references cited often have nothing to do with the principles in his book. Therefore, unwittingly, Warren's misuse of Scripture diminishes Scriptural authority instead of strengthening Scriptural authority. That's too bad. Because with a little help, he could have used Scripture that actually supports his main points.

    Karen,

    As to my other questions, I thought of them because someone came on the board to tell us that he wrote a book explaining and apparently defending Warren.

    Why does Warren need defending? Why would anyone need to write a book about Warren? Can't Warren explain for himself his own actions and motives?

    It seems like another attempt to make money off of Christians. If it isn't, I apologize.

    But the defensive nature of Richard makes me think I'm right.

    It is most often referred to as legalism and comes in many forms. One of the primary defining marks is a tendency to bash other evangelicals over non-essentials. Sound familiar?

    I know in the small world of fundamentalism that narrow is always better -- that is why the groups with the "highest" standards are often considered the "most spiritual."

    Actually the Pharisees lived a very narrow lifestyle.

    Actually I don't give a rip whether you agree or disagree with me. And I could also care less if you are narrow and simple-minded. And to top it off, it does not bother me one bit if you think I am elitist, self-rigteous, or judgmental. You are not my judge.

    Entertainment Joseph -- pure entertainment.

    </font>
Isn't it interesting how Jesus also taught us to follow the narrow way? Are you trying to say that Jesus was a legalistic pharisee?

    And neither are you mine. I follow the Bible, and in my own simple, narrow, legalistic, pharisaical way, the teachings of the Bible are good enough for me.

    Which is why I am an ardent defender of most evangelicals and am usually the hardest on those Jesus seemed to be the hardest on.
