Off the topic of the thread. If you want to talk about Obama start a new thread. This one is about Romney moving American jobs overseas ... which put Americans out of work.

No need to start a new thread...

The answer is "0", "none", "nada", "no jobs"...

On the other hand - GM used the Obama bailout to ship jobs overseas.

Anyone remember the company in Sweden (?) that got Obama money to do product development?

How about a calculation of how many jobs Obama shipped overseas with our tax dollars.

Let's not forget that Obama shut down drilling in the Gulf so that Brazilian company Petrobas could "drill, baby, drill" on our dime.

Of course, Obama owed Soros a favor or two.

Still more U.S. jobs sent overseas by "the one".

I can give Crabby more examples if he needs them.

My apology. So how many jobs did Romney move over seas?

    For numbers go to:

    http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2004/03/b38081.html

It is quite a contradiction for Romney, who was so involved in outsourcing jobs overseas to now criticize those who outsourced jobs.

Post number 5 - but it bears repeating since the author of this thread has chosen to ignore it.

OOOPS.... The OP has been DEBUNKED.

Sorry, Washington Post, Romney didn’t get rich moving U.S. jobs overseas

... the WaPo seems more than a little fuzzy about the basics of how international business works — and the difference between outsourcing and offshoring.

(Example 1) ... What CSI (Computer Software Inc.) actually did was provide U.S. software developers with technical support and sales. Example: It provided domestic outsourcing — which is different than overseas offshoring — for call centers and help desks. As far as its international business goes, CSI was reseller of U.S. software in European markets. In other words, they helped distribute U.S. software around the world.

(Example 2) ... overseas call centers in the WaPo story (relating to Stream International Inc.) were based in Europe and Japan, and serviced international customers of U.S. companies in their local languages.

(Example 3) ... what Modus Media did was help companies like Microsoft and IBM sell their products internationally. Products destined for American consumers were manufactured here at home.

(Example 4) ... GT Bicycles had overseas suppliers before Bain invested in the company.

(Example 5) ... (printed circuit board manufacturer) SMTC wasn’t even acquired until months after Romney left Bain Capital. Is Romney running for president or is Bain?

(Example 6) ... (computer chipmaker and tester) Chippac was purchased in March 1999, a month after Romney left Bain Capital. Prior owner was Hyundai, a South Korean company that already had factories in Asia at the time of sale. So buying a company with foreign factories is the same, apparently, as “shipping jobs overseas,” according to the Washington Post.

You are joking right? That is pointing to President Obama not Romney. This is what is happening on President Obamas watch and what will continue to happen if we keep him..

How can it be about Obama seeing as how the article was published in March 2004? Was Obama president in 2004? It seems you simply did not even look at the numbers or the date of the article. You asked for numbers, I gave you numbers.

Who was president in 2004? Oh yeah, that's right, it was the fellow who never made a mistake ... at least that is what he said ... oh sorry, that's not right, he said he could not think of any mistakes he had made. LOL

You are correct it is not about this current President. I did not look at the date. But it clearly is not about Mitt Romney who you said this thread is about. Are you starting another thread topic?

It is not specifically about Romney and only Romney. But the numbers include jobs lost through the company he certainly are included.

I doubt there is any specific information on the exact numbers of jobs lost through Bain. But considering the number of companies involved and/or put out out business because of outsourcing by Bain is probably considerable.

If I find any specific numbers I will pass them on to you ... though I will take them with a gain of salt as I have no idea how anyone could come up with those figures.

This is hilarious. In an effort to smear Romney, Crabtownboy posts job outsourcing numbers from 2004, FIVE YEARS after Romney left Bain Capital. Trying to smear Obama, Freeatlast pounces on those job loss numbers and attributes them to Obama, without looking at the date of the article, which happens to be FIVE YEARS before Obama became President.

Looks like a couple of people are seeing what they want to see, not what the truth actually happens to be.

The numbers are not just for 2004. Look at the numbers and note the first column heading is jobs lost to date which means multiple years.

There is no effort to smear Romney, I can't do that. This is simply one data point to consider when determining who is the best candidate. There are many data points to consider.

Yes, and exactly WHERE is the beginning endpoint? If I'm reading the chart correctly there have been between 300,000 and 995,000 jobs lost to outsourcing since.....since.....well, I suppose 1789.

Doesn't matter, Romney's outsourcing numbers are included.

LOL! So are Teresa Heinz's and Kenneth Cole's! Or any other liberal Democrat business owner.

And what a fine tabulation given in the link. Somewhere between 300,000 and 995,000 jobs outsourced. That's really definitively nailing it down!

The numbers simply show how difficult it is to quantify jobs lost to outsourcing. Let's use 300,000 ... Romney's numbers are still there and if you are one who lost their job it is significant.

The point is he made a huge amount of money on other people's suffering. Simply a data point for you to consider.

And what's the alternative? Obama? What have his job gain/loss numbers been throughout his business/political career? How many jobs have gone overseas during his watch? How many jobs have been lost during his watch?

How do you know that ANY jobs were outsourced due to Romney's work at Bain?

Indeed, since there is no beginning endpoint on the timeline and since Romney left Bain in 1999 it is hard to say.

But, let's go with the 300,000 number and let's say the beginning endpoint is 1994. The article was written in 2004. So over this 10 year span there were an average of 30,000 jobs per year lost to outsourcing. How many of these are attributable to Romney? Then you'd have to consider how many new jobs were created by Bain in the Staples office supply deal, the Sports Authority sporting goods deal, and other deals. I'd say that Romney and Bain Capital had a net job creation effect on the economy.

Crabby is counting Romney jobs shipped overseas the same way that Obama counts "jobs saved"...

It can't be done so just make it up and just keep saying that it happened.
