I don't think this will do his campaign any good in the long run. Too many people, especially women, will not favor these extreme laws.

During the primaries, it could do him a world of good.

Many Conservatives have not believed him when he said he was pro-life. This may help convince some of them he was telling the truth instead of playing politics.

Yes, you are correct, it could help during the primaries.

You cannot jail doctors for performing a legal service.

That is your opinion, but it carries no weight of law. My statement stands as fact.

Rhetoric like this will not get him elected. Such notions are not in the mainstream of American thought.

What is with this thread? Why would anyone give one ounce of credience to what Romney says? He was governor of Massachussetts. He either lied about abortion then, along with gay rights, or he is now, or, and most likely, he does not care about anything except votes. He should be running as a Democrat along with Giuliani.

    Of course not.

It goes without saying that abortion would have to be an illegal service to jail anyone for it.

I'm responsible? I'll never have to pay taxes...but of course I agree some of the current population, like your prodigical children, should be taking the place of these unborn children...

Or he may have changed his mind, as many have through the years, including another famous Massachusetts resident--Ted Kennedy. I honestly don't know what Romney's real position is, but in the interest of honesty, we should at least acknowledge the possibility that he might have changed his mind.

The problem is changing ones mind at the same time it becomes politically necessary. I suppose it is within the realm of possibility he had a change of heart on two issues at the same time at a point he is running for President, but it is doubtful. He comes across as phoney.

If he gets the nomination, he would get my vote over a Democrat. There would not be much choice, as one would be forced to take his word. Not so in the primaries, there are too many more credible choices. It gives him time to reveal himself.

The worst is Giuliani, a self admitted pro abortionist and gay rights advocate. If he gets the nomination, a third party will get my vote.

Agree with all this except I've not decided this dilemma. I can't vote for a Dem. and Rudy is unacceptable. Third party may be only option. sad

In general , I don't trust people who have epiphanies concerning political issues, least of all politicians.
