MOSCOW — The United States and Poland signed a deal Wednesday to place a U.S. missile defense base just 115 miles from Russia — a move followed swiftly by a new warning from Moscow of a possible military response.

Defensive missiles aren't aimed at anyone. The response of the Russian governmental leaders is quite silly.

Silly falls short. And the Russian boldness can be tied to the antiwar left wing nutcases in this country that has shown the world that America will not last under pressure.

The Russian boldness has more to do with its new oil wealth and the power and influence that comes with it than anything else.

While this is absolutely true it does not negate my point.

I'm sorry, Pastor Mitchell, but we'll have to agree to diasgree on your point. Even though I don't always agree with them, I don't regard liberal or conservative antiwar Americans as "nutcases".

The Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko is upping the rhetoric now with fresh talk of Ukraine joining NATO. How long then before Moscow sends 'peacekeeping' tanks and artillery into Ukraine to 'restore order' and 'protect' 'persecuted' ethnic Russians in the Donbass and Crimea in response to Ukrainian 'provocations'?

The excuse Putin gave about invading Georgia reminds me of the excuse Hitler gave for invading the Sudetenland in Czechoslovaka. Hitler said he wanted to help the Sudeten Germans. Putin said he's helping the Russians there. Hmmmm.
