    The brothers and sister!
I want to collect maximal texts in English about Russian baptists. If you have clauses, citation, book in an electronic kind, in which it is told about baptists in Russia and USSR, please, write them here to me!
    Thank!

I have studied this year Prince Vladimir and the conversion of Russia to Christianity in 988. The subject was amazing, but I too found texts hard to come by. It occurs to me that comming by texts relatiing to the development of the Baptist Church in Russia could be quite difficult. One suggestion, is that in Australia we have a few "Slavic Baptist Churches". Maybe looking for stuff under the term Slavic could bring up a few documents? There does appear to be a reasonable representation in a few english speaking countries of Slavic Baptist Churches.

I heard Evangelist Bailey Smith say years ago that he had arranged to preach at a Baptist church in Moscow---the middle of Winter!

Sunday morning before he preached he noticed a "packed" church---standing room only---the front door to the church was open and people were filed out the door and lined up for several blocks----in a driving snow!! Cold!

He asked the Baptist pastor---"I've noticed the people lined up outside and each of them is touching the person in front---they have their hands touching the shoulders of the person in front of them in the driving snow! Why is that so??"

The Baptist preacher said, "Brother Smith! We in Moscow believe that if we are touching someone whos touching someone whos touching someone whos touching someone---who is inside hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ being preached---preacher!! We are just thankful to be "That close to the Gospel!"

Of course, we in America----do it the "Sissyfied" way! Don't we??

Moy Brat, the best (probably because it's the only) book in English is Dr. De Chalandeau's A History of Baptists in the Soviet Union. He wrote it as his doctoral dissertation for the University of Strasburg. It was published back in the late '70s by Harper Row. My only other history of Russian Baptists was published in Sacramento, California. However, it is in Russian. As I am away from my books at the moment, I can not give you more information.

No sir, I'm sorry I don't. All I know about the subject is what I have learned from you and Brother Squire here on the Baptist Board. I was trying to help those on the board who did not know about the previous thread that was posted not long after your first arrival here.
