What do you think about this man? Is he a cold blooded murderer? Is he misunderstood? What are your personal thoughts and feelings about him?

Personally, I feel that he is evil personified. The world couldn't be rid of him quick enough.

    Gina,

Would you please be a little more specific? Is he a murderer, misunderstood, or evil personified?

    Thanks,

    Joseph Botwinick

He's a misunderstood cold blooded murderer. He hasn't done much more than a number of us would think was ok if one of our presidents had done the same for our country.
Then again I believe the majority of our presidents are cold blooded murderers too, it's just not as out there in the open as much as in other countries..
Can I go home now? LOL I try not to jump into these types of discussions but the title caught my eye and before I knew it I was answering...

Was that a serious answer or just kidding?

That was a completely serious answer. Though I probably should have stuck with the acceptable method in our society of alluding to what one really means in order to soften a rather definitive statement.

In what way is he misunderstood as you see it?

He hasn't done much more than a number of us would think was ok if one of our presidents had done the same for our country.
I disagree here. But then again, I guess I don't know people who would jump for joy if Bush were torturing and murdering their relatives.

Then again I believe the majority of our presidents are cold blooded murderers too, it's just not as out there in the open as much as in other countries..
Gina,

What in the world are you talking about?

Have never heard anyone claim that he is a good guy. Of course he was a murdering tyrant, why then did we EVER support and finance his cause?

Saddam is just misunderstood like everybody else.

He's a sinner, and he can receive salvation just as freely as we can. He just needs to take it.

Instead of downing him. Let's pray for his salvation. I believe there's still time left.

Remember what Paul said in 1 Timothy 1:12-17.

Not so many years ago, he was chosen by the USA to do its battles in Iran, when Iran was the enemy. He was equipped with US weapons and given US blessings. Was he evil then? Indeed he was. What has changed? He became more openly anti USA. It is as simple as that.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Because, at the time, we believed that the Muslim extremists loyal to the Ayatollah in Iran were a far greater danger.

I appreciate the comments by Jamal and Ulsterman. We often forget the spiritual aspect of this and other situations. Saddam needs to be saved, like other terrorists and villans.

Sure we knew what kind of man he was and there's no question that we created this golem but, overall, I believe we were right. If you can stave off an enemy by playing your enemy's enemy off him, so much the better.

I mean, it was ugly and I'm sorry for all of the unintended negative consequences but at that time, it was the best of all available choices.

    Mike,

Would you say the same about Osama? I battle with this dilemma. What do we do?

An ideology is not changed by might, but by a better idea. We do what is right ALL the time and not just when it is not right for us.
