    Revealing Grace + Repentance + Faith + Election + Spiritual Baptism + Conversion + Indwelling = Salvation + Works

    Where:

Revealing Grace = hearing and understanding the call through the gospel of Christ.

Repentance + Faith = turning from our self-centered life to trusting in Christ alone with our life, now and forever.

Election = God choosing for salvation those whose faith He credits as righteousness.

Spiritual Baptism = God sets a person apart by placing them spiritually “in Christ.”

Conversion = Once “in Christ” a person undergoes the circumcision of Christ and arises “in Christ” a new creation, created for good works. It is a spiritual work of God, not us changing our minds.

Indwelling = After God puts us spiritually in Christ, He seals us with the Holy Spirit forever. The Holy Spirit provides each born again (converted) believer with light to understand the meat of God’s word, awareness of the will of God, and brings to mind our sins such that we are convicted. As we grow more mature, we will exhibit the fruit of the Spirit.

Why make it more complex than need be? Don't you both believe this is the equation/formula from scripture that sends souls to heaven?:

if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved Ro 10:9

You both hold to sola fide, you both believe the gospel is the means to go to heaven, you both believe you can 'hasten the day' of Christ's return, and you both believe in the same formula for immortality. So what's the problem? Why can't you get along and get on with the business of saving souls from infinity in hell?

On this one, you about as far away from the mark as you could possibly be. Election is unto sonship, not unto faith, or unto heaven

Election is not an issue related to conversion, it relates squarely to maturity and the reward for such

    The end, from the beginning

Hi James, not sure what your point is, because in the Salvation Equation derived from bible study, the order given is faith before election. So election unto faith is the exact opposite of what I posted.

Nah, differences are hardly distinguishable; you two should cease this bickering, put your evangelist hats on, hold hands, and go! EVANGELIZE! Souls are perishing to hell as you two lolly gag on this site! Remember, we're talking about INFINITY here, you know.

In your own words, evangelism/witnessing changes eternal destinies. You ought to be out there doing it, now.

Are you and your church getting missionaries out to support the great Commission?

    Romans 10:14-15 Nasb
4 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? 15 How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”

Never mind what me and my church do; you're the one mouthing about how evangelism/witnessing changes eternal destinies, not me and my church.

Why aren't you out there doing it, now? Times a wasting, souls are perishing, you are lolly gagging.

While it is not true neither does it equal works. "Works" in scripture are only a reference to OT law. Using that phrase beyond that is just incorrect.

I apologize, I think I misunderstood what you were getting at.

I see where you wrote in Election after Faith:

But then when it comes to your definition:

I was reading it to say that God chooses for "salvation" (from hell) those whose faith He will credit as righteousness.

Are you saying that God chooses for "salvation" (please define this word) those who have already been credited with righteousness?

    Great questions, JamesL.

1)2 Thessalonians 2:13 says God chooses folks "for salvation" through the sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.

    2) I did not say God credits a person as righteousness, I said God credits some people's faith in Christ as righteousness. When He does, He sets them apart in Christ (the sanctification by the Spirit). So God takes our worthless, merit-less, filthy rag faith, and credits or reckons that faith as righteousness, He turns a sows ear into a silk purse.

    3) "for salvation" tells us for what purpose God chose us. He chose us for the purpose of salvation. Next, the verse tells us how He chose us. He chose us by setting us apart in Christ, which was accomplished by the Spirit when the Spirit spiritually baptized us into Christ. And finally, the same verse tells us why we were chosen, which is on the basis of God crediting our faith in Christ as righteousness.

Just thought I would repeat the OP so the framework, this fits there and so forth, would be clear.

Apparently your bible is missing some passages, i.e. we were created for good works, and a whole section in James about faith being shown by works. You should spend less time trying to find fault with everyone else and bring truth to the table.

Good works are what the saved do to show that they are indeed saved, but NOT part of what got them saved at all!
