Now i know there are some friendly Scotsmen out there! [IMG]

Can someone give me advice about travelling through the highlands of scotland starting from Glasgow? We want to spend the night and travel on to Aberdeen the next day.

Is it better to take a train or drive?
Is it easy driving around the highlands?

Is Glencoe a nice, affordable place to spend the night? Is there a more scenic town?

Is it safe to sleep in the car in the middle of nowhere?

    Thanks so much! [IMG]

Sorry, I'd be no help at all. I'd start you off in Greenoak and route you through Sky before getting you to the Highlands. Be very careful of that cloudy water they offer you to drink - especially if it's a single malt.

If I were going to Scotland I'd be sure to spend a night or three in the Spittle at Glen Shee. Glen Shee is located along the A-93 I believe. I would also make a point to visit Forter Castle. However, the Glen Shee area is my clan's old gathering grounds. Clan MacThomas rocks!

Here is a link to a website about various Scottish Castles. I am linking you to Forter Castle. As I said the Forter Estate used to belong to the Chief of Clan MacThomas before we were broken in the 1600s. Anyway, here's the link Scottish Castles

Can't help you on traveling in a place I'd love to go myself, but I've heard midges are a horrible nuisance there! Take some bug repellent. :D

    Read this article about midges!
