Screen Names

    Several of our members have changed their identities, or at least their screen names lately, and some were talking about it in another thread. It made me recall an old thread I thought I'd ressurect, but alas, I think it is lost in cyberspace- so, I'll just start it afresh. :D

    What does your screen name mean, especially if you don't use your real name?

    Joy2 is actually my second screen name. I registered here in July 2000, as Joy. My profile was accidently deleted in March, and when I re- registered, it wouldn't let me register as Joy, because that had already been used, so I used Joy2, so it would be easy for everyone to know who I was.

    I originally chose Joy, to remind myself and and others that, "The Joy of the Lord is our strength!" "Joy" was not meant to be a proper noun as in a real name, but it has stuck. I keep my real identity a secret from most, for security reasons.

    How about you? ;)

    Livin'intheword. Living in the word. The word of God is my key to a good life. A map if you will. So I figure if I live in the word of God, I'm doing a whole lot better than I would on my own.

    Acts 16:14 - "one of those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in Purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul's message."

    And my husband reminded me that I work for the U of Washington. The colors are purple and gold. "Go Huskies" :D

    My first message board was a Tolkien Board. The name Tuor is the name of one of the characters. I used it there, so I decided to use it everywhere. That way, if someone sees the name they can see who I am.

    It has become my internet name. [​IMG]

    Well, I got my screen name from...oh, wait a sec...

    The "cjoshuav" dates from the dark ages of the Internet when everything was Unix-based and a username couldn't be more than 8 characters. My first initial is C. and the last one is V.

    Not very original, but I'm the only CJoshuaV I've ever met.

    Gina- it means-ta da! Gina! Moi! Actually, if ya look in a baby book of names and their meanings it says Gina: a queen. So bow before royalty you insolent frauds! Ha!

    Uhhhh...cuz thats my name! LoL My full name is Katherine (hey Gina, I'm royalty too girlfriend!). I think it means stuff like pure and all that...I used to HATE my name, but I have come to appreciate it...Katherine or Kathy seems like a popular name, but all thru school, I was usually the only Kathy in my class.

    Therefore, since I'm royalty people usually treat me as such, but since you guys are my friends, you can just kiss my ring and that will suffice. LoL

    Yes, Katherine does mean pure. (I know that because my real name is a dirivitive [did I spell that right? [​IMG] ] of Katherine.)

    NewBeliever cause I'm a baby Christian. I guess I can't keep it forever, but it fits for now. In the beginning I did choose a screen name to hide behind, and now I don't see any reason to change it.

    Ok, lock me up and throw away the key, mine is from an ancient legend (non biblical) about Lorelei, the siren of the Rhine. Her songs and beauty would cause the sailors to "crash" upon the shore. Wicked huh?

    Well see, when I first got on the net and entered a chat room I had a horrible time picking out a name. (I am not all that creative) I had no idea as for the legend, but someone who was helping me find a better name asked me what my first name was. I said Lori and he thought of this name and told me the story. I liked the name and it has been my net name for every place that it is not already taken. I have taken the siren/lighthouse theme and worked it to my own choosing. You can see my page at http://neen.par1.net/~lorelei to see what I mean. (My page is mostly for my personal use, there isn't much there other then links I go to)

    I am not "hiding" my true identy, I just do not use my real name or give out too much information for safety reasons. I always have a nickname everywhere I go. I also didn't think to get a biblical name when I found this board, I just always use this one wherever I go. Habit I suppose.

    Well my first screen name was MyHelpisfromAbove. I changed it.

    Now it is Bendecido por Dios: Blessed by GOD

    I was thinking about changing it again to
    Gloria de Dios: Glory to God.

    But I am afraid I don't always bring Him Glory.

    Guys, try having a husband named Matthew. Matthew means " Gods gift." As IF he needed more reason to have a big head, his parents go off and name him that!! :D
