DHK has asked a question of Bob Ryan several times but I don't believe I have ever seen an answer. I think the question merits a discussion.

How do you keep the Sabbath?

Give us some details of what you do on the Sabbath day that fulfills the Biblical requirements of "keeping the Sabbath Day."

Ok, good question, but could be better asked, "What fulfills the Biblical requirements of keeping the 7th Day the Sabbath of the LORD thy God Holy, as Commanded?" and therefore, "How does the Scripture inform us on how to keep His Sabbath Holy?"

In very short, "love/charity" [Romans 13:10; 1 Corinthians 13, but in that charity, there is a universe to consider], we may consider the Life of Jesus Himself, and of His followers, etc.

No, that is not the question.
You are the SDA. I don't believe in keeping the Sabbath. Your question doesn't apply to me, so quit dodging the question. If you believe in keeping the Sabbath, as you claim, how do you keep the Sabbath, and is it Biblical. Give some evidence from the Bible.

Why not, if I may ask? is it that you do not want to remember that while we now have warmth, life, light, and freedom, that Christ Jesus was cold, dead, in the damp darkness of the tomb, imprisoned there for the sins [transgression of His Holy Law] committed by us all?

Is it because you do not desire to follow the LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ into Gethsemane, and from there to the tribulation, and from there to the Cross of Calvary, where, He, spotless, pure, holy and undefiled, righteous, sent of the love of the Father to die for you and me, and so much so, that taking the sins of the whole world upon Himself, died and so entered into His rest - the 7th Day?

Is it that you do not desire to die, that you may "follow" Him into it? Is it that you would rather keep a set of your own commandments, and not His, your own righteousness and not His? Please help me to understand, why you would refuse the one commandment, which speaks to the God who Creates and Redeems?

As Peter says:

For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known [it], to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. - 2 Peter 2:21

There is only one Commandment with the words "holy" and "Hallowed" in it.

Please tell me DHK, from the Scripture, in what way possibly, could the rejection of God's own Commandment, which gives His very name and character, gives His very authority and dominion, gives His very prerogatives to Command anyone, in either work or rest, gives His very power to Bless, Hallow and Sanctify [and if a Day, can He do so for you?] do to glorify God, and but if such Day is not made so forever, how will you be? Can you tell me DHK how your refusal of His very Commandment, doesn't crucify Jesus Christ afresh every time you openly, as Pharaoh, say that you will not regard the "vain words" of His Law?

Look to Calvary DHK, and look past all the arguments man/devil has devised, for at Calvary, Christ Jesus eternally upheld the Moral Law of God, His Justice/Law and His Mercy/Grace together, vindicating God, saving those who would look and believe:

Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed [each other]. - Psalm 85:10

The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make [it] honourable. - Isaiah 42:21

Do you think Paul, Peter, John, etc will turn to you and commend you for desecrating the Holy Time, even that time in which Christ Jesus was dead, for you, because of your [an my own] sins? Do you think the Holy angels of Heaven will look upon you with kindness, as you spit upon those sacred hours, purchased at the cost of the blood of the Son of God?

How do you think the Father felt, DHK, in the suffering of His only begotten Son, even unto death, that you would even have the grace/time bestowed to choose Him, and repent, and obey.

Repent, brother DHK, repent at such wondrous love of God for you, and take off your filthy sandals, and remove your dirty feet, from trampling upon the Son of God, for the time He spent, in Creation, in the Tomb, is forever Holy.

In the very Commandment is the name of God, and He promises to write that name in our hearts, as Creator/Redeemer, sealed in Holiness unto the LORD.

There are many today, professing to believe in Jesus and to believe in the Word, who are even now plotting and others even already crucifying afresh the Son of God, not in person as the Religious Leaders of those days had done, but today they crucify the Moral/Spiritual Law of God, His Ten Commandments, for they say that it is "nailed to the Cross" and "dead".

They despise it as that 'old Jewish' Law... Just as Christ was crowned King of the Jews with a crown of thorns... mock and deride the Law as they did to Christ, and humiliate it, and they pierce the very heart of the Ten Commandments, where the very name of God is found, and who He is, in attacking the Sabbath of His rest.

They do not know what they do... and yet in their beliefs, statements and actions, they verily cry out, "Crucify Him!, Crucify Him!" For they would "nail to the Cross" His very character... and also not only despise the Head in so doing, but also His body which is connected to Him...

Do we not understand what was there done?, not even but the tiniest fragments of light do we comprehend, for it will be something to contemplate throughout eternity, becoming ever brighter and more glorious in the Light of God's glorious Love.

Do we not see that John witnessed... the Son of God, living breathing, warm, God touching humanity through humanity, caring, compassionate, tenderhearted...

...and with what cruelty we have treated Him, with what disdain we have for His Holy Law, the King of All Heaven, Justice, Mercy and Love!

Such an infinite price was paid, knowing in advance that most would even spurn it, and cast it back in His face as worthless, as dung... the blood of the Son of God, pouring from His flesh to uphold the Justice and Love of God together!

John handled the Word of Life, and knew Him personally... living... personality...

...John saw the Son of God heart broken upon the Cross, between Heaven and earth, the atoning sacrifice.

...John knew Him when the Son was dead... lifeless.... cold... unmoving...unresponsive... O how the Angels of Heaven must have shed tears, more than any human... to see their Lord so.

The Father beside His Son, which no mortal eye could see... shrouded in thick darkness...

Christ Jesus taken down... by the filthy hands of men.

The Son of God laid in the Tomb, entombed, covered in darkness... blackest midnight... without light... separated from the Father...

...the 7th Day... the Sabbath of the LORD Jesus ... forever Holy, may all your hearts be broken for the Son of God, but even more for the Father ...

... that in His Love, that we ... we sinners.... we the transgressors of the very Holy Law, for which Christ Jesus died and lay dead, entombed that we might Live in Him... that we might have warmth, love, light and Life.

The Holy 7th Day the Sabbath of the LORD thy God, is the eternal memorial for what Christ Jesus paid for the wages of our sins, death.

Yes, He now lives forever, but there was that Holy time, in which He ... Jesus ... precious Jesus ... was dead, for you... for me...that we might be reconciled to the Father.

For all who spurn This Love, may they bear their shame eternally, let them be anathema maranatha.

In John 13 we are given a new commandment by Jesus to love one another.

Are we not called to love God and our neighbor every day?

The logical conclusion of your explanation is then that the Sabbath has been eliminated - or that every day is the Sabbath.

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. - John 13:34

What is the Greek word used for "new" [see also 1 John 2:3,4,7-8 "...an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning"; 2 John 1:5-6], and does it mean in reference to quality/use or time/age? In other words, is it the word "kainos" or "neos"? Secondarily, did Jesus use an equative term, "as", and if so, how did Jesus Love according to 1 Peter 2:21-22; Romans 13:8-10; 1 John 3:4,7,8?

For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: - 1 Peter 2:21

Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: - 1 Peter 2:22

Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. - Romans 13:8

For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if [there be] any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. - Romans 13:9

Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love [is] the fulfilling of the law. - Romans 13:10

Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. - 1 John 3:4

Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. - 1 John 3:7

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. - 1 John 3:8

Indeed, as the Ten Commandments [Exodus 20:1-17] give, even according to Deuteronomy 6:4-8; Leviticus 19:17-18.

Not so brother, look again:

There is only one specific day in the week [Genesis 1-2, etc] that is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God, and it is the Holy 7th Day, and not other, hence the definite article "the" throughout, and no the indefinite "a".

Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love [is] the fulfilling of the law. - Romans 13:10

If any [knowingly, after Light is come/refused] transgress the Commandment [Exodus 20:8-11], they have not kept any commandments:

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one [point], he is guilty of all. - James 2:10

The Holy 7th Day the Sabbath of the LORD thy God, is the day in which He rested, in Creation, and in His death, for the wages of our sins. We also must enter into that [His] rest, even as God did.

I wish that just once an SDA would answer a question in a straight forward direct way without all of the cut and paste, bolded, underlined, italicized, multicolor, multiple font, reams of words that amount to saying nothing.

Where in all of that do we see what an SDA specifically does to keep the Sabbath that is different from what he does the other six days of the week?

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. - Exodus 20:8

Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: - Exodus 20:9

But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates: - Exodus 20:10

For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. - Exodus 20:11

Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee. - Deuteronomy 5:12

Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work: - Deuteronomy 5:13

But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou. - Deuteronomy 5:14

And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and [that] the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day. - Deuteronomy 5:15

And he said unto them, This [is that] which the LORD hath said, To morrow [is] the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake [that] which ye will bake [to day], and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning. - Exodus 16:23

Six days may work be done; but in the seventh [is] the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth [any] work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. - Exodus 31:15

Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day [is] the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work [therein]: it [is] the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings. - Leviticus 23:3

etc.

We cease from all common "labour/work" as God did from His [Genesis 2:1-3; Exodus 20:8-11; Hebrews 4:4,10, etc], for the 7th day the Sabbath of the LORD thy God is Holy, not common/profane, as are the other six working days [days 1-6].

And they shall teach my people [the difference] between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean. - Ezekiel 44:23

I have answered him numerous times that Is 58:13-14, Ex 20:8-11, Is 66:23, Lev 23:1-4 provide perfect examples of how to keep it.

Ex 20:8-11
8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

Is 58:13-14
13 “If because of the Sabbath, you turn your foot
From doing your own pleasure
on My holy day,
And call the Sabbath a delight, the holy day of the Lord honorable,
And honor it, desisting from your own ways,
From seeking your own pleasure
And speaking your own word,
14 Then you will take delight in the Lord,
And I will make you ride on the heights of the earth;
And I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father,
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Isaiah 56 said Gentiles should keep the Sabbath. "Also the sons of the stranger ... every one that keeps the Sabbath ... for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people." Isaiah 56:6, 7. Thus the Sabbath is for Gentiles and “all people,” not just for Jews.

"All" mankind will keep the Sabbath in the New Earth. In "the new earth ... from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, says the Lord." Isaiah 66:22, 23. Here God says that “all flesh” will be keeping the Sabbath in “the new earth.” If this is the case – and it is – shouldn’t we start now?

Lev 23
The Sabbath
3 ‘Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work on it; it is the Sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.

Gentiles kept the Sabbath in the Book of Acts. "The Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath ... Paul and Barnabas ... persuaded them to continue in the grace of God."' Acts 13:42, 43. Here saved-by-grace Gentiles kept the Sabbath (see also verse 44). See also Acts 17 and Acts 18... of them with Sabbath after Sabbath worship services and Gospel teaching in the synagogues.

so then - we don't engage in secular activity, discussion, or secular work -and we do engage in corporate worship "Holy Convocation" on Sabbath from Friday at sunset to Saturday at sunset. "from evening to evening" Is when the day is to be observed.

=========================
And that Romans 8:4-9 declares that the lost do not and also cannot keep the Law of God.

in Christ,

Bob

Err... ummm... except the many times I have stated that the SDA church has never said that only Sabbath keepers go to heaven ... much less that only SDAs go to heaven. In fact we don't even argue that Christians are the only ones that go to heaven because of what Romans 2 says about those who have no access to the bible at all being lead by the Holy Spirit.

So.. except "for that"??

in Christ,

Deuteronomy 5:12-15 (ESV)
12 “‘Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. 13 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 14 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter or your male servant or your female servant, or your ox or your donkey or any of your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates, that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you. 15 You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.

Is it not interesting why Israel was to keep sabbath?

Sabbath keepers today - do as did the saints in Christ's day on the "preparation day" Friday - the day before the Sabbath.

The Jews setup spies to watch Christ and see if he violated one of their made up rules. If you are suggesting that a similar system be setup today - then by all means.

But for the rest of us - the actual Bible texts will do just fine.

This is as much as a detailed answer that we have from you, and it still is not the Biblical method of keeping the Sabbath.
What do you mean you "don't engage in secular activity"? I am sure you do.
Do you drive a car? You show up at your SDA church. How do you get there? Do some of you get there by public transportation? Can you honestly say that there is no activity that you do that is not secular in nature, like walking perhaps??

And "discussion"???
Does everything that proceeds out of your mouth for that 24 hour period center around the Bible, that is the sacred? You don't ever tell your children to go to bed or when they have to get up and get dressed, or have any other conversation. It is all centered around "the sacred"?? No one would ever talk about the weather or any other topic--ever! It is always centered around Christ. You wouldn't even be aloud to call people to come and eat. That is not very sacred.

You engage in "corporate worship."
Give me an example of the nation of Israel engaging in corporate worship on the Sabbath Day. Show through scripture that this is the reason for the Sabbath, and this activity is "keeping the Sabbath.
Indeed it is not. In fact it is working on the Sabbath, and defiling the Sabbath. You are wrong to do it if you are keeping the Sabbath.
The Sabbath was made for rest, as a day of rest. When you take Saturday and make it a day of required worship then it becomes a day of work. Worship is work. It is many works. The hardest working person there is the pastor himself. Thus by example he is showing how he breaks the Sabbath. This makes it a very hypocritical day indeed.

The Bible teaches everywhere throughout Scripture that the Sabbath is to be a Day of Rest, not of work, not of worship, not of corporate worship, etc. It is to be a day of rest.
Your answer of showing how you supposedly keep the Sabbath shows that you don't keep the Sabbath. You only "say" you keep it, but it is in hypocrisy that you do it. For it is not a day of rest for the SDA at all. There is much planning and much work that is gone into this day and much work done on this day. You don't keep the Sabbath at all.

Yours is the typical and ONLY SDA answer. It boils down --inevitably-- to one thing, always: MAN'S WORKS! Never giving God the credit for HIS works on and of : exclusively "the day The Seventh Day Sabbath OF THE LORD GOD" --"the Seventh Day _GOD_ thus concerning : SPAKE ... spake BY THE SON : IN THESE LAST DAYS ... because JESUS GAVE them REST : THEREFORE their Sabbath Day's resting / observance / 'Sabbathtizing' < 'Sabbatismos' REMAINS".

Poor One Baptism, you have BURDENED YOURSELF PAST HOPE! <<"What fulfills the Biblical requirements of keeping the 7th Day the Sabbath of the LORD thy God Holy, as Commanded?">>>

--you really think equipped whereas ONLY GOD IN CHRIST could do that?

“Christ being The All in all fulfilling Fullness of God— GOD, WHEN HE RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD having exalted Christ in His Heavenly Majesty to His Own Right Hand”!

The first time I have seen Vooks touch sensibility.

Let me ask you now, Vokks, WHAT is so <<interesting why Israel was to keep sabbath?>>

WAS IT NOT BECAUSE the Lord your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm" ---which was Christ and that "Therefore (because Jesus gave them Rest) the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.??

Are you also a Sabbathtarian?

Then WHY would YOU believe the Seventh Day is Christian Sabbath?

It is the same thing said to be done only with negations.

You too like they are preoccupied with MAN'S doings and or not doings as far as the Sabbath OF THE LORD GOD is concerned.

Please note the BIBLE'S description of "the day The Seventh Day Sabbath": It is "...OF THE LORD GOD"! Of the LORD GOD, "given to you" --"made for man" --"remaining for the People of God". Yes ---BUT THE LORD GOD'S! Not 'of man' : "OF GOD"!

Where else than in the Fourth Commandment is it written HOW the Sabbath MUST be kept by MAN?

In one place! And then only as OPPOSED to as how man is supposed to act on it.

But where is it recorded HOW GOD ACTED on the Sabbath Day? Virtually in every other place of mention of the Sabbath the Seventh Day.

NOW NOWHERE IS SPEAKING POSITIVELY OF THE SABBATH PROHIBITED AND DENOUNCED AND REJECTED AS IN THE Seventh-day Adventists church!

Never has a Protestant Church forbade or in any way silenced my personal writing on the subject of the Sabbath LIKE THE SDA church has currently for decades now, been DOING!
