Where is our country headed when a Senator can admit cocaine usage, and news reporters act as if that is not a big deal?

What ever happened to the boy raised on a farm in fly over country, that worked hard for his grades and made the most out of college, became the husband of one woman, raised his children as unto the Lord, and became President of the United States?

Why does it seem necessary to overlook or even count it as positive, the negative things we do, as it applies to a presidential candidate.

I remember several boys in high school and college that were better quality people than we've been offered these last few decades.

Yea, being an honest person and wanting to be in the Senate and/or run for President, what was he thinking?

He can't be honest. He needs to start gathering his best friends so they can lie and cover for him in whatever situation he happens to get into...

Isn't that the way it works? Isn't that what we the people want, someone that will lie vers someone that is honest no matter what they have been through.

Reminds me of another question in a different situation...

How exactly do we handle a new Christian that gives a moving testimony? Do we wait until they finish to pick up the stones, or do we just start right in while their still talking?

I'm not so sure we've ever had the perfect, holy President. They've all had flaws. I give credit to Obama for being honest with his past faults rather than trying to cover them up.

I'm not going to vote for him (for policy issues), but I do respect him.

Yeah, no sense in the United States wanting integrity anymore. It is impossible to find, right? And by bringing this up and giving people a choice of whether or not to vote for him we are now throwing stones? Give me a break.

Hey may nor may not be the right person for job, but to talk about his drug use is not throwing stones. I know preachers that were former drug users and have some of the greatest testimonies I have ever heard and are much more honest and genuine than preachers who have been saved since childhood and never let a drop of alcohol touch their lips.

There are lots of things to be considered when looking into the character of another person that could be a potential leader of the country, and all should be discussed.

My point: I would love to be able to look at Obama as a wholesome candidate that did not succumb to the temptations of his youth. The media is portraying his indiscretion as a positive thing. Not a negative. I could never support him, but not because of his past, but his stance.

He's just getting it out in the open while everyone is gaga over him, so the press doesn't get it out first under less favorable circumstances.

His political record is enough to get me off him in a hurry without regard to his past drug use. He is a died in the wool hardcore leftist liberal. He makes even the real Hillary look like a "Neocon".

How ridiculous! It has been out in the open since his memoir 11 years ago, if anyone cared to know about it.

    LE,

I'm sorry but are you going to question EVERY Chrisitian that has a muslim name or has converted from muslim? Are you that scared? The man has identified with Christianity, and he cannot help were he comes from. It doesn't matter that other muslims may/may not consider him still muslim. Maybe you would feel better if he changed his name and denied were he came from alltogether?

That's right: NO SECOND CHANCES FOR OBAMA!
    He should quit in disgrace.

    So what?

Who reads the memoirs of a junior Senator political neophyte?

    My statement stands.

Wasn't Bush well into his 40s before he gave up his youthful indiscretions - alcohol & drug use? Just saying...

 Whatever Carpo. I'd hardly claim that he is just now trying to get it into the open, but think what you like. It doesn't matter who read it, the fact of the matter is it has been out in the open for over 11 years now.

    Maybe. Can you prove it?

On the other hand, who cares?

Not scared, just don't want to see a muslim in line for the Presidency of this country. I don't question every Christian that has an arabic name or a muslim background and I do question (since GW Bush) the authenticity of those who profess to be Christians who are running for office. It is my right as a Christian and an American to do so. By their fruits we shall know them. As Christians we are to beware of wolves in sheep's clothing.

Go ahead and talk about Bush's alledged past drug use, but bring your proof with you.

You wouldn't want to be guilty of spreading malicious gossip, now would you?
