Senators Threaten Disney

    Can you imagine the Hell that would have been raised if the Republicans had attempted to do something similar to CBS for the hit piece they put out on President Reagan a few years ago?

    And yet, the Democrats do it and virtually nothing is said.

    The Republicans did do something similar, but they were more successful and got the venue changed. It was pulled from broadcast and moved to pay per view.

    Odd definition of "nothing".

    Well, in the 50's Doopey admitted he'd like to smoke weed. He aslo gambled; and in the earlier Ub Iwerks shorts Mickey was definiately not as family-oriented as we see him now. Or are those conservitave ideals now?

    But I don't think those qualify as liberal ideals either....just not ideal...

    Yeah, early Mickey was not the clean-cut character he later became. He was kind of a psycho-mouse (Steamship Willie?) I read an article many, many years ago on the de-evolution of Mickey. The author noted that as he got older, he became increasingly childlike - bigger eyes, a rounder forehead, etc. (no point there, just remembering an interesting oddity).

    The Reagan movie?

    Unlike the democrats assault on the free speech rights of ABC...

    No Republican Senator or Congressman that I know of wrote a threatening letter to CBS and no Republican had an attorney write a letter to CBS.

    No. I'm pretty sure it was mostly Republicans, but at a grassroots level.

    It was not a full scale assault on the first amendment rights of the broadcaster by high powered politicians and former presidents and attorneys for same, like this one has been.

    After seeing half of it, it makes them look silly and petty for kicking up such a fuss.

    this is also a lot better than all these dumb footabll and other sports movies the company tries to get away with....
