First, the church must recover the exclusivity of the gospel.

Second, the church must defend the nature and power of Scripture.

Third, the church must articulate a comprehensive view of sexuality, gender, and marriage.

Fourth, the church must nurture an experiential Christianity.

Fifth, the church must rediscover its eschatological hope.

Sixth, the church must recover regenerate church membership.

Seventh, the church must reassert the primacy of the ordinances.

    In Conclusion

President Bill Clinton once mused that he’d never be considered a truly great president because no major national crisis occurred on his watch. Lincoln had to save the Union; FDR had Pearl Harbor and World War II; and Reagan had the consummation of the Cold War. Immortal actors need a grand stage to stride across.

There is something far worse than not having a crisis to engage. It is having a crisis but not engaging it. Faithfulness in our generation requires the church—and especially the pastors that lead it—to do our duty of preserving the faith and supporting the church. Are you ready to do yours?

Maybe it was all that free time that got BillyBob in trouble with Monica.

I just thought that BillyBob gave it a nice backwoods Arkansas sound.

Yes to all those (assuming you mean what I hope you mean in No. 3).

Unfortunately the problem is easier to state than it is to solve. There are too many Achans and Demases and Judas Iscariots within the churches. Getting them out will be hard work.

Sounds like the same issues faced in the first century by the seven churches in Asia:

    Waning love for Christ

Pride/Casting a stumbling block before weaker brothers

    Moral impurity

    Corrupt doctrine

    Half-hearted dedication

    Maybe for you and I...

    Matthew 13:41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

I would add the proper place and recover of the Law of God in the life of Christians.

Amen! And I will add another: the recovery of the primacy of preaching and the raising up of preachers who fear God more than they fear upsetting men.

Whatever one thinks of Paul Washer, he tells it as he sees it and he doesn't mince his words.
