[IMG] I have really come to a great awareness of the importance of the Sabbath. Might there be some Seventh Day Baptists who would like to talk to me about their beliefs? [IMG] [email protected]

    Tolky,

I don't think that there are any SDB's here.

There used to be one, but I think he stopped posting.

I am a Seventh Day Sabbath keeper.

If you have any questions about the Sabbath, free to email me or pm me.

    God Bless,
    Kelly

Guess whose back Kelly :D I ve been up in the Baptist only forums for a while, every time I looked down here it was constant threads on the Catholic Church which just gets boring after a while. Havent seen you on the COG7 forum much lately, we should catch up

So Tolky, what do you want to start with?

I first became interseted in the Sabbath after withdrawing from a church that got heavily into the Word of Faith and Prosperity Gospel movement, after leaving this group I did a study on added on doctrines of the church and discovered that the Catholic Church had authorised the change of the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday, thus creating an added on false doctrine. Kelly once gave me some great links from the Catholic encyclopedia which state this quite openly.

The 7th Day Adventists, Seventh Day Baptists
and the Roman Catholic church are all examples
of attempts to make Christianity "Jewish".

That might be true. But understand something, Sabbath means "rest", not "worship"(Gen.2:2). The new Testament church was ordered to tithe on the first day of the week(Sunday)-1Cor. 16:1-2. The disciples came together for worship on the first day of the week (Acts20:7). Probably because it was the day of the week when the Lord was resurrected(Lu.24:1). My point is, this started way before the Catholic church.

You have to admit - the NT church leadership was 100% Jewish. Christ was a Jew - the entire group was using the OT as "Their Bible" (See Acts 17:1-3 and vs 10-11).

There is no denying that the Christian church IS the ONE true Church of God In ALL ages, God says HE "Never Changes" in Malachi 3 and in Heb 13 we find that "Christ" (the Greek word for Messiah) is "the SAME yesterday today and forever".

There is no need to "make" Paul a Jew or "Make Jesus Christ" a Jew. No NT Saint could POSSIBLY have missed the fact that those people were Jews.

I even ran in to a seventh day non-denominational lately. There probably will be seventh day Church of Christ'ers, seventh day pentecostals, seventh day lutherans and seventh day presbterians sooner or later. Of course then there will be Baptist denominations who except the lutheran position on the Lord's Supper. (Actually I just got an email from a Baptist pastor who has along with his co-pastor taken his congregation in that direction). Non=denominationals who except the presbyterian view on baptism (oh, there already are) yet reject the rest of prebyterianism, etc. etc. In a word more division. Seems to me someone said "a house divided cannot stand". Divide and conquer is satan's plan.

    Blessings

    1 Corinthians 1:10
Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment.

    1 Corinthians 11:18
For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that divisions exist among you; and in part I believe it.

    1 Corinthians 12:25
so that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.

    Jude 1:19
These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit.

I can categorically state to all that the Seventh Day Baptist Church is a Christian Church and very much a member of the Body of Christ. We certainley do not attempt to "make the church Jewish".

That is quite an insulting statement, why should we want to lead people into another religion away from our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ?

I suggest thinking before posting remarks like these, remember that you are on a Bulletin board where you are exposed to many different people, its very easy to offend with a remark like this.

    Ben W.

Well then sir, Worship GOD 7 days a week and
meet for a Sunday Worship Service or two.
When 7th Dayer's quit thinking that GOD gives
them special merits for keeping the Sabbath
on Satuday------they will have matured from
Christians keeping the letter of the LAW and
will be Christians following its intent.

Does God really give "merit points" for not having other gods before Him?

Do we "make Him like us" by not making images and idols?

Do we "earn points with God" by not taking His name in vain?

Do we "make Him love us more" by keeping His holy 7th-day creation-memoral - that He made Holy at creation week as we see in Gen 2:3?

Can we bargain with God such that "He will honor us IF we honor our Parents"?

Do we "make Him Owe us a favor" by not lying?

Do we "cause Him to like us" by not stealing?

Do we "earn our way to heaven" by not comitting adultery?

Will we "be transported to heaven" just because we choose obedience instead of murder?

Will God "owe us salvation" if we manage not to covet?

The question asked in the post above is of that type.

And it adds - "did God know what He was doing when He made THE Seventh day a Holy day? Shouldn't He have made ALL SEVEN days Holy?"

This is left as an exercise for the reader.

    In Christ,

    Bob

    A_Christian,

Why are you so keen to place your judgement upon me? You dont even know me, yet you find it neccesary to tell me how I should worship God, for your information, I do worship every day, and I fellowship with and speak in various Sunday Churches.

One last time, the Seventh Day Baptist Church consider themselves a member of the larger Body of Christ. We dont Judge or Judaise anyone.

I suggest that before you go out of your way to insult other posters that you go and get your facts straight about them.

    A_Christian,

Please qutoe from what I have posted and show me how I have Judged you, If that it the case I will be happy to put up an apology.

So your remark stands? One thing I would ask you to consider if that is genuine Christian behaviour. If the moderators dont think so, is that a genuine witness for you and your denomination?
