Someone wrote: it says very clearly that they are condmened because they do not believe.

    And went on to say:
Belief is not an act of the will, but a state of mind imparted by the Spirit

    This is not true.
Belief is very much an act of will.

From the simple psychological definition it is, and from a spiritual definition it is an act of acceptance.

Even webster's shows the personal accountability. While it starts off with the words "state or habit of the mind" the ENTIRE definition in the first use REQUIRES an act on the part of the individual.

    Main Entry: be·lief
    Pronunciation: b&-'lEf
    Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English beleave, probably alteration of Old English gelEafa, from ge-, associative prefix + lEafa; akin to Old English lyfan
1 : a state or habit of mindin which trust or confidence is placed in some person or thing

Beyond that, the Bible itself supports this definition. Belief in Christ is much deeper than a "mental acknowledgement that He is God."[/b][/i]

God's word tells us that even the Demons know He is God.

If the Calvinist view is based on the belief that Christians are Christians and non-Christians are non-Christians because the Holy Spirit picks and chooses who it allows to have a state of mind that acknowledges Christ, then you are contradicting the bible which says that belief in Christ is more than an understanding that He is God.

If the Calvinist view is that God decided some people could never understand their need for salvation, you are, in effect, saying Holy God is the author of sin.

The only logical explanation for faith in Christ, based on the Bible, and stated IN the Bible is that God offers salvation to all sinners, and those who turn to God and place their trust in God become His elected.
