Are you saying Jesus gave two or more Lord's prayers? Or are you saying that one person remembers some of the words, one person remembers the others, and together we have the Lord's prayer?

The Bible does not record "the Lord's Prayer"--that is in a prayer book. The passage we call that is one of several where the Lord gave instructions on prayer. I find them all quite refreshing.

The Gospels contradict each other on the day of the Last supper. Were there really two? (the last, and the next to last?).

One day, only one day. One accounted for the day according to Jewish reckoning of when the day starts, and the other according to Roman reckoning.

Was Jesus annointed with oil by the sinful woman four different times?

Was there only one sinful woman in Judea? I don't recall that she was named! Perhaps we have some copy-catting going on.

How did Judas die? Only one way can be true. Which one is it? Are you saying he died twice?

He hung himself, the limb broke, he hit the ground, and his guts spilled out. Since they didn't have CSI in Jerusalem in 33 AD or so, there was no final official cause of death.

And what did Jesus come to do with respect to the law? Do you believe Matthew or Mark?

What is your reference in Mark? But before you say it, I believe both.

Since you say you believe (apparently only some of) the words of Jesus, how do you deny the validity of the Bible in light of Mat 5:18, John 17:17, John 14:26, John 16:12-15?

 

Yes. As long as they are biblical, I’m okay with it.

My theological boundaries are outside the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message but are no wider than the written word of God.

I don’t know Mercer, so I can’t speak to that issue.

But I believe that most “conservatives” don’t actually understand Godsey’s book and the way he is trying to present the gospel in the context of postmodernism. Instead, the fundamentalists (who are modernists) are looking for precepts (which would explain why everyone seems to be selected the same quotes out-of-context) in order to “prove” that Godsey is a “heretic” instead of looking at the story and context in which Godsey is presenting truth.

While I don’t agree with everything Godsey wrote in that book, the vast majority of the alleged heresies are well within the realm of responsible historical-critical biblical scholarship.
