    If you're talking to yourself, you're right. Do you remember saying this?
    One, you're making an assumption in that post that we would not support building new reservoirs, and you make ridiculous assumption again:
    I say you can do it without raising taxes, and you could create jobs by taking people off welfare and unemployment by putting them to work building the new reservoirs and other storage facilities. What do you say to that?

    As a Californian, I can say either taxes will be raised or more bond debt will be assumed to pay for the needed water infrastructure. The State budget has no slack to account for the new spending. So, either we pay as we go (taxes) or we share the load with future generations (bonds).

    At this point, I'd just as soon California fall off into the sea. But, barring that, I'd prefer California just secede. All splitting it into six states would do is give us ten more liberal senators.

    The only areas sure to send liberal senators would be those centered around San Francisco and Los Angeles. Those from the Central Valley and North of the Bay Area are likely to be fairly conservative\libertarian.

    I can see you know little about California demographics, geography, or politics.
    The urban areas around San Francisco Bay and Metro-Los Angeles are as about as liberal as you can find. However, Away from these two areas the politics come more in line with the more conservative areas of the country. I have seen the proposal. But, the Central Valley and Jefferson are conservative.

    Why not put the welfare people to work, those that peddle it and those that get it. The handles of a pick and shovel will fit most hands.

    Good, no great idea, but I say won't be done. Back in 64, 65 a town in New York, Newberry I believe, was going to put a work requirement on people leaching of the taxpayer. LBJ said "nothing doing". Do that and you get no Federal money.

    This is not the 1930s (My Granfather worked on a WPA project building a road from Yakima Washingto to the Coast.). Most construction jobs are not pick and shovel. It takes more than a little skill to work with the machinery involved.

    I understand that most construction work is done by heavy equipment. That does not prevent welfare people from using a pick and shovel. From experience I can say it is an educational experience!

    Every construction site, from a house to a skyscraper, needs laborers, and in projects the size of these water storage facilities and reservoirs, they'll need hundreds if not thousands of them. Yeah, it's not everyone on welfare, but there's other projects like that the welfare recipients could do, and guess what? They'd make more money doing that than welfare would ever pay them, providing they're not defrauding welfare to begin with.

    California should not be split up.

    More properly, it should be split off.

    It's not run by and for Americans anyway.

    Good. You support infrastructure projects even though they might involve tax increases, correct? Then we agree and so does President Obama.

    I know what you mean, they come here as well. Now Californians are also coming. A double whammy.

    But I think most of the inhabitants of Little Mexico, formerly known as Los Angeles, are staying put. Just trying to do their part to suck the state dry.:thumbs:
