Hi everyone! this is my first time to post. I just got a question...asking for ideas/suggestion/comments.

I am from OK City and I am planning to move to Sacramento, CA but I am not sure if I should move or not the reason why is that I am a member of a very nice church here in OK City. I have a very nice pastor and all the members are like my family. The only problem is I can't get a good job here while there is a job waiting for me in CA. I found a church in the Sacramento area when I was there last month. I don't like to compare but the preaching is entirely different from what I am use to. My dilemna:BangHead: is if I stay here in OK City I wont have a job but have a nice church while in CA, I will have a good job but I have a 'not that bad' church.

    What do u guys think?

    Brother,
Obviously I don't know your exact situation, but I do know that I was in largely the same situation-dead-end, labor-intensive job at a slaughterhouse, but a member of a phenomenal church. I was faced with a job as a professional scientist (my training) making lots more money for lots less work, but an entirely different church. I do know that God has blessed me immensely since I moved here. After I decided to move, God gave me a wife and two beautiful kids (see my avatar above).

He opens doors, but we have to walk through them. I'll be praying for you.

    In Christ,
    Jason

I think it all depends upon how many people you are
    responsible to feed.

Sacramento is a big place. I expect there are a number of great churches there.

Don't forget to check out the new cost of living in the Sacramento area vs. your new salary to see if it is worth the move. California can be a very expensive place to live. Also, if your desire is to buy a house now or in the future, please research the housing market there. You could get hit with culture shock moving to California!

Sacramento area is a large place....you might have to change how far you are willing to drive to get into a church you like.

Thing is, you need to ask God what He wants you to do. We are rarely blessed by "following the money". There are questions you need to answer. Are you able to provide for your family where you are? Have you been trusting God to help you provide for your family, or are you trusting in your job? Are you active in your church and do you have ministries that need you? What do you think of as "being blessed"?

My husband and I moved here to WI from CA just because of the church. Though we aren't paid by the church at all. It was a move because we wanted to be in a church that could and would use us, and one that needed us. I can't tell you how glad we are of that decision, though we still don't make alot of money.

But whether you move or stay, you need to be sure of it being what God wants for you. I don't think any of us can really answer that for you.

Well we lived in Oklahoma City for several years and my wife and I both went to college there and then moved south to Texas and then further south so far that we are almost in the Gulf of Mexico now :) And it wouldn't hurt our feelings at all if God was to move us back to OKC - we loved it there :)

Seek direction and discernment knowing that He will answer your prayer in His time and in His way.

To some already wise counsel, may I add this:

    It's not about you.

It's about where God wants you to serve him. I'm no expert in discerning God's will, but I suggest you be sensitive to doors that close in one place and open in another.

I've also noticed that the more I pray for my pastor the better he preaches.

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. If your move is to a move to build His Kingdom, then by all means, move. If not, then I'd say stay.

Thanks for all your advice/comments etc. I trully appreciate it. Well, to tell you more about myself. Im single and planning to get married next year. I guess I am pressured and worrying to much about the responsibilities that I will have once I get married. Its just that things are not going the way I expected it. I know God is in control and not me...but I tend to do things on my own and not wait on God everytime I don't see any results in my prayers. Im really struggling with this...I am not like this 3 years ago. I always pray hard and consult God's Word before I make a decision. I miss the old me...pls pray for me so i can get back and get right with GoD. thanks.

Everytime I see the name of this thread it remonds me of that song by the who (I think)

    It says;

something something I do not know
Should I stay or should I go

    or something like that.

Well, what does your fiancee say?

THere are plenty of churches in every part of the US surely, it;s hard to believe you won't be able to find a good one.
