Sigh. Because it isn't illegal. What part of that don't you understand ?

In other words, the law DOESN'T require it.

Anyway Zaac, it's been a hoot.

I support curches being able to decide who they want in it, and who they don't.

I didn't say a pastor has to bless it. But much like the Jewish ceremonies, there seems to be a need for witnesses and someone to join them into the covenant.

If it were as simple as the two being joined as one, all sorts of teenagers and pre-marital sex participants are married.

The state requires a license. It is not submitting to the government authorities God places over one if the license purposely is not obtained.

And that's why the inside of Churches start to look just like the outside world. God should have a say so. And the churches standard for admission should be His.

Where does the law not require a marriage license? In Montana?

Zaac I agree with essentially everything you have posted [on this thread].

    John 2:1, 2.
    1. And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
    2. And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

It seems to me that there is too much in Scripture indicating that marriage between a man and woman needs a public declaration of such to simply ignore it. The problem created by ignoring such a public proclamation/ceremony is also demonstrated in the following Scripture.

Hebrews 13:4. Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

How are people and in certain cases the local Body to know whether people are "shacking up", that is, they are fornicators, or are married in the eyes of God? It does make a big, big difference. Far too many local Churches live with adulterers and fornicators in their membership.

I'm glad you said that. Yes, and scripture says all you have to do to be a fornicator or adulterer is WANT to. I agree. Church is full of people who look at each other's mates, who let their daughters dress like tramps, yet worry about what everyone else does.

And if indeed, God can only bless a relationship after a preacher has, it should be easy to prove.

Should unmarried people be arrested for living together?

As opposed to dying together, or what?

Let's see.....I somehow quite vaguely recall that somebody somewhere way long ago said something to the effect about those being without any sin can line up right here....I've got some stones here for you to throw.

Can't for the life of me remember who that might have been though.

Can any of you out there in BB [as opposed to, say, LA LA] land come to my rescue and tell me if I'm just hallucinating or did that actually happen somewhere in the dimly lit remote corners of time some two centuries ago???

I don't know about Montana, but in Colorado, you can marry yourselves. No officiant needed.

Hey, look at that. M.P. and me on the same side.

As far as John 4:18, it falls short of what constitutes BEING married. How's come nobody can show me the "thou shalt have a man who leads a church pronounce you married before you have s3x" verse.

    So, no......not busted.

Would anyone be suspicious if Anderson Cooper moved in with Barney Frank?
