Wonder what the map would have looked like in A.D. 1000 if the technology had been available.

Amen, Brother -- Preach it!

IMHO Matthew 24:4-14 is the signs that the Church Age (AKA: Time of the Gentiles, Age of Grace, etc) continues. Those signs include earthquakes. These signs include the expansion of the Gospel to the whole world. This sign was first been reported in the New Testement.

I'm guessing about the same. We live on a dynamic planet that is shaped by many forces, including gravity, radiation, solar energy, plate tectonics, meteor and comet collissions, tidal forces, etc.

That's a mighty big word. I'm sure I could look it up in Websters but not certain that I have the degrees to make it worth while.

And does this mean that what God wrote in his word is only for those with degrees?

If so, then why aren't those who shepherd over us and have those fancy degrees bringing us studies or encouragements regarding the prophetic present/future or recent past..... Seems, I've read "Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand." Rev. 1;3 It says we are blessed in reading..... we are blessed by hearing. I don't think it is implied that we will have a clear understanding as prophecy unfolds.... but that the Lord will bless those who gain a familiarity and comfort from the prophecies.... I can know that the Bible speaks that some of the prophecies are bound from understanding until the time and events have ripened so that what once had seemingly no meaning or possibility become plausible within the reality of evidence which exist to support the possiblities:

I think sometimes that the prophecies are like a lady and her suiter: He has promised to her that he will come to her and take her away and while he is gone, she must prepare for his return. He does not schedule it on a calendar or in a year or at an hour, but he tells her that certain signs will be present on the day or the approach of the time when he returns. He leaves her in love and pinning for his presence and the fullfillment of their love and relationship together. Each day she wakes and thinks of the skills she may need which will bless their future together, and sets herself at the task of developing her maturity and discipline.

She meditates on the letters he has written and tunes in to those qualities which he has and which she knows he admires. She considers those tasks which he has asked of her and makes them part of her life and allows her love for her beloved to give energy to her motive and strength to her actions to attempt the development which he has asked of her in preparation for his return. As each day passes, she looks for the signs of his return: Some seem to appear which she thinks 'this may be the time'. She runs to the window and gazes down the road to the point where she might first see his appearing, her heart beating fiercely in anticipation, thinking 'this could be the time'.

Each sign she looks for and believes the shadows are lessening, make her seek him more and make her work at preparation become more fervent: She must be prepared. She desires as much perfection as she can become for him. The anticipation of his return is such that she is always rising to perfect her best appearance and her skills and the fruits of her garden in readiness for his arrival. She prepares her house for a receptive welcome. She reviews her attitude throughout the day's experiences to meet and see past the challenges to be receptive to the expression of joy. Each time she is reminded by a shadow of one or several signs which her beloved left to her, she finds herself feeling his presence is closer than it was the last time of her anticipation. She knows her beloved is faithful and will come as he has promised, and she knows that she doesn't know when....... but each sign which suggest his appearance is near is an encouragement to renewed hope and joyous anticipation of that time when she will be forever with her beloved.
