You do not read well, do you? Gluttony and gossip are a sin. If you cannot pick up on fifth grade level English, Dr. Suess has a forum for you.

I had no idea that luck was involved in any way concerning where one worships. If you do not like the topic, "Sins People Overlook," you have four choices.

    1. Start your own thread
    2. Ignore this one
    3. Say something constructive for a change
    4. Shut up

Did the preacher comply with what he preached?

Oh, I'm sorry that I have a differing opinion from you on the OP. Is this the debate forum I am in, or is it a forum that one must simply agree with the OP?

Thanks for your kindhearted response. Maybe you should look to yourself for sins that are overlooked?

As far as I am aware none of the preachers I have sat under have had a problem with things like gossip, gluttony, etc. Of course they are all sinners saved by grace, so do have faults to be sure, but none of the preachers were living in open sin or rebellion (again, that I was aware of).

You've equated a potluck to whiskey. I guess that I'd have to preface my statements by saying that I am a teetotaler. So, comparing whiskey to potluck, in my eyes, certainly would be like saying that having a potluck is a sin.

If God had created the world on the basis of mercy alone then sin would abound, but if he created it in the basis of justice alone then how could anyone endure.

First of all, whiskey is not a sin. It is a beverage. Drinking it and becoming drunk is a sin. A potluck is not a sin. A four hundred pound person sitting down to a pot luck and stuffing your mouth so fast you cannot talk, but attempt to tell about someone who got drunk is gossip and gluttony in one act is a sin. I guess that is sin multitasking.

As I said in an above post, I don't drink because I learned long before I was saved I drank in a manner that ruins lives, not Baptist doctrine. It sounds like you have been in churches that addressed these sins, but the ones I have served in and visited did not. It always revolves drinking, dancing, and lottery tickets.

I apologize for the second post. It was not necessary, and very rude.

    You have a great POINT....

....and it seems that the tip on the point you have made is causing some a little inner pain!

Thanks for jabbing it into our consciences. We all need to do a little self-examination from time to time!
